((Alyndra’s Quarters, Compartment 38, Section 13, Deck 3, USS Artemis-A))

This whole meeting had started off weird, and it continued to stay weird. Gnai hadn’t known what to expect from a service called “StarFlirt”, but being the most senior of a group of relative new-comers to the ship was an odd sensation. It barely felt that it had been aboard at all yet, but here it was, the voice of authority in all matters Artemis.

Gnai: Oh, you’re new here as well? That makes sense… this hasn’t met you before.

Tho’Bi: ::smiles and nods::

As expected, as Gnai had not run into this Ens. Tho’Bi before.

Gnai: As the most… experienced Artemisian here, perhaps when this recalibration is completed… this can show you both to some of the social spaces on the ship?

Syrex: Yeah, I’d love that! Back home, it took a while for me to get into the ship's social spaces, it would be nice to have a guide.

It bobbed sympathetically in its tank, for it too had taken a good long while to become accustomed to the social spaces aboard the Artemis. Not that it visited them much anyways still, preferring to meet with people in lab spaces or other places, with little need for the sort of beverage-drinking that often was the backdrop of social occasions.

Gnai: This can be that guide then, for both of you, if this is all said and done…?

Tho’Bi: Response

Syrex: Yeah, people don’t always realise that check-ups don’t need to end in a bar. I’m nice to them, but I’m their doctor. You know? It’s part of my job. Still, it helped me get into the atmosphere.

Gnai: It took this a… long while to ever go to the ::air quotes:: bar aboard the Artemis. This isn’t really… accustomed to that sort of an environment.

The first time it had set foot in the lounge was an awards ceremony, if it recalled correctly. It had barely been there since…

Tho’Bi: Response

Syrex: Oh, for sure! Bars are certainly one thing, but I also really love karaoke! On the stage, the limelight on me. In a way, the audience isn’t there, it's just you and your microphone.

((Outside of Alyndra’s Quarters, Deck 3, USS Artemis-A))

As they left for the “social tour” of the ship, Gnai couldn’t help but feeling like this was one of the “blind leading the blind” situations it had heard referenced in Earth literature. It wasn’t sure it could live up to the expectations that Lt. JG. Syrex had for her societal gatherings, much preferring to not get involved in anything even resembling karaoke. Music was nice, certainly, but it had no skills for singing. Not audibly, at least. Galadoran music, back home, was accompanied with light most typically.

Gnai: Oh. ::flashing with a bit of apprehension:: This isn’t sure if karaoke is a common practice in Elysium… That’s the ship’s lounge’s proper name.

Tho’Bi/Syrex: Response

Gnai: If you want to do karaoke… there’s always the holodeck?

oO Please do not want to do karaoke. Oo

If she really wanted, it would feel obliged to participate, Gnai knew. The pressure of this whole contrived meeting, and being around humanoids who were clearly interested in such an activity would make it feel put on the spot.

Tho’bi/Syrex: Response

Gnai: There’s also always the arboretum, and the Brew Continuum, they’re both on this deck. ::beat:: Not that this has explored those spaces much. Those could be the first destinations on this ::air quotes with its suit:: tour?

Both were far safer destinations in terms of avoiding anything like singing, or drinking, or the usual sorts of partying that Gnai associated with bars and lounges, after a few unfortunate nights being dragged to them at the Academy.

Tho’bi/Syrex: Response

Tags/TBC :)

((OOC: PLEASE feel free to insist they do karaoke. It would make me laugh. Do not feel at all influenced by how much Gnai is scared of such an activity.))
