As they arrived at their destination the turbolift doors opened and they stepped out heading through the corridor.
Syrex: It’s just down here to the right.
Vitor nodded and let Rex lead him.
Silveira: So tell me, how exactly do you do this?
Syrex: Trade secret mate, sorry. You’ll have to sign the same NDA that Ensign Lyara made me sign when we started the business.
Vitor nodded as they stopped by her quarters door.
Silveira: Fascinating.
((Doctor Syrex temporary quarters, Deck 3, USS Artemis-A))
Vitor took to the side, so that the Doctor stepped inside first,
Syrex: If you’re a vampire, then I hereby invite you in.
Rex gave a brief curtsey, pulling on the skirt of her skant.
He smiled and joined her inside
Silveira: I have to say you are very talented in toy making. You will forgive me if I don’t need your other skills, as that would mean I am hurt.
Syrex: Well, as a Paediatrician I see this as my work too, so you don’t need to be hurt at all to use my “Doctor Skills”
Vitor smiled and nodded politely to her. In some ways she reminded him of Nan, and like his girlfriend he had a feeling that Doc Rex was much stronger than she realized.
She sat down and pumped her chair up a few inches, getting herself comfortable. Then she initialized her PADD, it bleeped a few times, before unfolding itself into a much larger board. It’s screen came to life, a melody played. It was alive.
Silveira: Then hands to work, what can I do to help?
Doc Rex grabbed another PADD, handing it to him.
Syrex: Quickly sign the NDA please, it’s just saying that you won’t sell your soul to the Ferengi and reveal how the toys are made. After, if you can get an image of Commander Jovenan that I can work off of, I’d be most grateful.
Vitor wrinkled his forehead. That was actually serious. When Rex mentioned the NDA he thought she was teasing. But no, it was very real.
It made sense, that was a way to protect her work and not have someone illegally taking advantage of it.
He scrolled the PADD, knowing he should read the legal mumbo jumbo, but he was going to trust the Doctor, so he signed without reading it.
Silveira: There you go, all official now. Now let me access our files. ::He tapped on the PADD and looked for a good picture of Nan. regrettably in the records there wasn’t one that really do her justice, so he picked one he liked best.:: OK it’s not the best from her, but this one will do.
He handed the PADD over to Doc Rex, and he had another idea for something to surprise Nan.
That would be a challenge, and hard work, but he was confident he could do it.
Syrex: I’m assuming you want the same style as yours, right?
Vitor smiled and nodded repeatedly.
Silveira: Yes, yes, very much so.
Syrex: Right… Ok.
She worked on her PADD, bringing up his own modeled doll.
Silveira: I will leave the rest in your capable hands. I know you won't disappoint me.
Syrex: Response
Vitor smiled and let the Doctor do her work. His eyes widened as much as his smile when he saw the draft Doc rex worked on.
Silveira: That’s… That’s perfect. I love it. I will be forever grateful Doc Rex.
Syrex: Response
He was feeling like a kid in a toy store. Vitor was certain Nan would be completely taken by surprise. He was fighting the urge to hold it and ran to Nan and gave it to her, right now.
But then he considered that maybe giving it to her on the next shore leave would be better.
Silveira: It’s so cute…
He was beaming. He just imagined the pair of dolls and how Nan would react to this surprise.
