(( Transporter Room 1 - Deck 4, USS Artemis-A ))

To say that Luirétt was uncomfortable would be a massive understatement. They had had the opportunity to adjourn Guive and the others on New Hope as to the circumstances of the current proceedings, but the hope in their voice had been partially false. They believed Captain Munro when she claimed that she had no intention of ‘handing over’ the Yurum to the Boraxians, so to speak, but it was difficult to embody hope and optimism after so many years of speaking on deaf ears. The aliens no doubt thought it encouraging that the Matriarchs had agreed to diplomatic talks to discuss the situation, but to Luirétt, this was nothing but a matter of course. There were few things the Matriarchs and Patriarchs enjoyed more than a good debate, and an opportunity to cement themselves as the leaders of the people. Getting them to change their minds once it had been made? That was far more difficult.

Within the strange room - the ‘Transporter Room’ - were no officers that Luirétt recognized. They knew that some of them had been on the teams that went aboard New Hope to conduct their own investigations, while the others had been part of the medical effort that looked after the injured Yurum. They hoped that the experiences these people had had of their people would pose them favorably to the Yurums’ plight. Luirétt would be lying if they claimed they weren’t disappointed that Ensign Meris and Lieutenant Storm wouldn’t be joining them - both of them had seemed uniquely sympathetic to the Yurum’s position - but they were certain Captain Munro was utilizing her crew in a manner that she thought best.

Mere seconds after this thought occurred to Luirétt, Captain Munro entered the room.

Munro: I'm glad you are all gathered :: nods respectfully :: Luirétt, thank you for agreeing to accompany us. Your experience will be invaluable. If there is anything you can let us know about your customs or ways that would be useful, please do share?

Luirétt: ... Of course. As a people, diplomacy and rhetoric have always been our preferred tactics. When Great Mother Andorenne - may her soul find Ellet - made contact with the Klingons, she managed to turn them into allies and trading partners, and Great Mother Elirielle is every bit her mother’s equal in eloquence and shrewd negotiation, if not in temperament. ::brief pause:: This situation is unprecedented, but my people will take peaceful negotiations very seriously. Your words will hold weight in that space, so make sure to consider them carefully.

Munro: Does anyone have any questions before we beam over?

Jovenan/K'Wara/Bergmen/Cole/Bancroft: Response

Luirétt: … Advocate Chavrainne is one of the most trusted Ceremonialists, and a loyalist to the Matriarchs. I’ve had little personal dealings with her, but I have the utmost faith in her wisdom. She knows scripture, folklore and traditions better than any other Boraxian alive, and you can be assured that she will know your laws sufficiently to argue her case.

(( Reception Room - Halls of Andorenne, The Golden Spire ))

The blue shimmer passed as soon as it had manifested itself, and Luirétt felt a surge in their chest as they appeared within familiar halls, majestic arches and vaulting made of golden metal and large crystalline windows that overlooked the city around them. Luirétt reoriented themself almost by instinct to face Sunhaven Spire, raising two hands in a ceremonial gesture, looping together to form the link of a chain.

It was a strategic play to set the meeting room to the Halls of Andorenne, Luirétt realized. Great Mother Andorenne had been a staunch figure during Luirétt’s youth, a kind shepherd who guided them through their first years in service to the Sunhaven Spire. What would she think of them, knowing that their actions and decisions had led their people to such pain? To the aliens, these halls with their golden walls and ceilings, the beautiful view of the city proper and the elaborate fountain of light positioned in the very center of the room - a spinning approximation of Ellet set in the middle of the lightbeams - would be beautiful, a room to showcase the best of Boraxian architecture and ceremonialism.

To Luirétt, it was a reminder of what they had betrayed with their actions.

Luirétt: ::thick voice:: Welcome to the Halls of Andorenne.

Bergmen/Cole/Bancroft: Response

Luirétt turned their back to the large windows, willing themselves to look away from the city outside. They knew. In the streets below, unease and discomfort reigned. All around them, Luirétt felt the panic try to force its way in, the echoes of their people’s need for guidance and relief. Their head was starting to hurt as the negative emotions kicked their nature into overdrive, but they couldn’t. If they went to the streets to ease the peoples’ pain, they would be playing into Great Mother Elirielle’s plan.

Luirétt: I am pleased to hear you say this. The Golden Spire is the home to our most important halls, and seat of the Matriarchy. ::looks around:: It feels like ages since I last visited.
