((The Sadar-Aqila Quarters - Compartment 83, Sector 03, Deck 6, USS Artemis-A))

MacKenzie, though fashionably late, still made it to Sadar’s party in enough time for it not to be incredibly awkward. Only a few of the crew had arrived so far, making it easy to introduce herself to the guest of honor. On site, the young Mizarian took a step back, his eyes wide. Approaching the young man, she extended her hand.

MacKenzie: You must be Kolya. I’m Captain MacKenzie – welcome aboard the Artemis!

Unsure of himself, the young man extended his own arm tentatively.

Aqila: Uhm … eerm … Welcome to our Aailudet, Captain :: bowed head :: I only hope that you can offer your humble forgiveness, we have allowed lessers to eat from the table before your arrival :: casts Gila a concerned look :: It is poor manners for us not to wait for you to indulge before us.

Addison’s eyes widened slightly, and an amused smile crept across her face as she turned her head slowly toward Lieutenant Sadar.

Sadar: ::clears throat:: Th-Thank you for joining us, C-Captain.

Lyara: It’s great you could make it Captain! ::Motioning to the table:: There’s even hasperat provided by Dr. Sadar.

Gila nodded eagerly, as if to indicate to the captain that she was free to partake. Despite being keenly interested at the mention of hasparat, MacKenzie felt it rude to arrive and head right toward the food. She’d make it a point to grab something before leaving, given that she didn’t intend to stay long.

Silveira: Good to see you, Captain.

Addison wiggled her eyes mischievously and returned Silveira’s nod.

MacKenzie: Vitor. ::to Sadar:: A bottle of Spring Wine, to mark the occasion.

Sadar: Oh, uhh... Th-Thank you. I’ll, uhh... I’ll put this away then.

Gila left briefly to tuck the bottle away, and when she returned, Ensign Lyara retrieved a bottle from the table and started pouring flutes for everyone.

Lyara: I brought a beverage from home to commemorate the Doctor’s new place.

Alroyo started to pour glasses for the other officers. Silveira grabbed one, as did MacKenzie.

Silveira: Thank you

Sadar: Oh, uhh- I-I don’t- ::sniffs the glass:: I don’t think this is safe for us to drink. M-Mizarians have, uhh, ‘averse’ reactions to select fruits and berries.

MacKenzie cocked her head slightly, unaware of any sensitivities that the Mizarians might have. She lifted the glass under her nose to smell the liquid’s scent.

MacKenzie: A shame, it smells delicious.

Alroyo looked at Kolya and gave him a small smile.

Lyara: And for you we can just get some kava juice.

Aqila: Is that safe for me? :: to Gila :: I'd really like to try it?

Gila nodded eagerly.

Sadar: I-I thank that would be safest, yes. I-I’ll get some.

Vitor had his eye on the bottle MacKenzie brought.

Silveira: What is this? Spring Wine?

MacKenzie: A favorite of Dr. Adea’s.

Lyara: Response

Gila returned, kava juice cups in hand, and handed one of the cups to her nephew.

Sadar: Here Kolya.

Vitor sipped the Spring Wine and appeared surprisingly not disgusted by the taste.

Silveira: Interesting, this is better than the last one I tried.

MacKenzie: ::amused:: Dr. Adea would be pleased.

Lyara: Response

Vitor smiled and raised his glass, a gesture obviously meant that the others in the room follow suit.

Silveira: Let’s have a toast. To Sada and Kolya. Welcome to the crazy family.

MacKenzie: ::smirking, looking at Gila:: To Kolya. And Sada.

Lyara: Response

Sadar: Th-Thank you. Th-That means, uhh... Th-That means a lot. And thank you for coming. ::to Kolya:: It’s going to be a difficult transition for you, Kolya, but I promise you. Eventually, the Artemis will come to feel like a home... ::clears her throat slightly:: F-For better and for worse.

Aqila: :: puts his hand in hers :: For better and for worse as long as we are together.

Addison raised her glass at the sentiment once more, acknowledging her agreement.

MacKenzie: That’s as it should be. ::bowing to them slightly:: If you don’t mind, I have to be going, there’s a lot to catch up on before we ship off again. Thank you for the invitation, Lieutenant… and welcome aboard, Kolya.

Tag, and End Scene for MacKenzie!
