(( Holodeck 2 - Deck 2, USS Artemis-A ))

On Gnai’s PADD, the data wasn’t anything specific, but there were at least details on the rough composition (gas, ice, rocks, water…) and order from the star Galador. It handed the information to Ens. Imril.

Gnai: Is this enough for your simulation?

It hoped that they could take the data from the PADD and work some engineering magic, but that was entirely within Ens. Imril’s hands now.

Imril: It’s enough to start, I hope.

Gnai watched as Ens. Imril tapped the new information into their simulation.

Imril: Computer, remove existing stellar phenomenon and markers from the simulation and give us just one. One that fits with the data from this ancient Galadorna log. Fill in plants and moons as possible.

The stars vanished, leaving the two of them standing in the middle of a softly glowing blank void. Gnai’s tendrils flared out slightly, rippling with flashes of fear unconsciously.

Computer: =/\= Insufficient data to complete this request. =/\=

Gnai: That’s unideal…

Imril: We’re not beat yet. I keep coming back to the wormhole. That’s the X-factor here. If we can work out its impact on these flight vectors, the computer can slot it into the equations.

Gnai: That makes sense, but flight vectors and engineering are beyond this…

It certainly wasn’t an engineer, and especially not a helmsjelly. That was far beyond what it considered “interesting”, much to its detriment right now, it supposed.

Imril: You said it was growing. I’m no expert, but the only way that could happen is if it was ‘feeding’ somehow.  But on what? Something that could supply it with neutrinos? Like a coronal mass ejection? A charged plasma belt, like the Bajoran wormhole is anchored to?

Gnai: Correct, it needed some sort of fuel to expand, likely some sort of subatomic particle as you postulate.

There were countless variations on the theme of “wormhole” across the galaxy, which left the net still fairly wide. Sources of particles that might feed a wormhole were fairly common, but ones strong enough to coax a wormhole big enough to swallow a planet, those were rarer.

Imril: Could it have been something on or being emitted by Galador I itself? Something that drew the wormhole to it? Some experiment or technology was spitting out neutrinos? ::Eyes widening in speculative wonder:: Like a projector… Lieutenant, could the source of the wormhole have been Galador I?

Gnai: ::thinking:: This doesn’t think that the planet itself was the source of the wormhole, given that the ancient Galadorans were able to observe the wormhole’s effects on the system and create the arc ships that carried them off-world towards Galador II…

Imril: Response

Gnai: It certainly could have been drawn to the planet by some form of emissions like that, yes…

That wasn’t a line of reasoning that Gnai was very thrilled to chase down, however. If the planet was emitting the particles needed to feed the wormhole and precipitate its own destruction… was it their fault that they lost Galador I? Had Galadoran technology drawn the wormhole in, destroying their home with their hubris?

Imril: Response

Gnai: ::gesturing for its PADD back:: Wait, this might have something that would help. Galadoran technology is… slightly different from that found in the Federation. Perhaps it was something to do with that which produced the fuel for the wormholes rapid expansion.

Imril: Response

((OOC: if Imril gives Gnai back its PADD, feel free to sim that it has pulled up a schematic for a Galadoran light-cell, and handed the PADD back to them, for their perusal.))
