((Transporter Room, USS Artemis-A))

The decks of the Artemis were buzzing with activity now that they found themselves in the orbit of the Genesis Planet. Those with a need to know of what was going on, moved about with a purpose. The ones who were instructed to keep on as they were, conducting normal business, were hanging about some of the more populated areas with the hopes of catching a glimpse or word of what was happening. Word would surely spread soon enough, but at the onset of a mission such as this, only the necessary parties got the full story.

Even though Savel had gotten his orders, and studied the available briefing data, he still had plenty of questions. He didn't know much about the adventures of the Resolution, but he did know something they'd been involved with caused this Genesis Planet to exist. He wanted those questions answered, but he doubted this would be the best time to stop someone and get the rundown. Instead he just focused on getting to the Transporter Room as quickly as possible.

When he walked through the doors, he spotted Lt. Commander Jovenan and his fellow JG Lt. Gnai. They were both given a silent nod in greeting as he settled into a spot beside them. The Vulcan didn't really believe in superstitious ideas, but that didn't stop him from having a brief moment of feeling unsettled when he saw who he was paired with. While Savel had full confidence in both of their abilities, as officers and in their respective fields, there was certainly a history of interesting occurrences anytime he was paired with them. Especially the Galadoran medical officer. He couldn't read minds, but he wouldn't doubt that Gnai had a similar thought when it spotted him entering the room.

Shortly after his own arrival, Commander Adea joined them in the transporter room. Like the rest of them, he was kitted out for their mission to conduct a survey of the planet.

Adea: Right, we’re not sure what we’re going to encounter down there, but I want every millisecond and millimetre of it documented. ::he smirked:: If venomous man-eating plants consume our bodies, I want our tricorders to serve as warnings to future generations, okay?

Queue the brow raise as the Vulcan listened to the Commander, even as he noted the smile lingering on his face after he finished speaking. A joke, more than likely, but not a terrible idea. The needs of the many, after all.

Savel: I'll have a message pre-recorded to play on a loop, in the case of my demise on this planet Commander.

Was that a joke as well? The world may never know.

Jovenan/Gnai: Response

Savel followed Adea up onto the transporter, picking one of the pads and turning to face the chief. He then did one final overview of himself and his equipment to make sure he was good to go. Even though it was rather late to say he'd forgotten something, as Adea gave the signal for them to be sent down planetside.

Adea: Of course, that isn’t going to happen… ::he nodded to the transporter chief:: Four to beam down.

Savel
: oO The odds of this being a simple survey are not very high... Oo

Jovenan/Gnai: Response

As soon as the order was given, that familiar blue enveloped the whole team as they were transported to the surface below. In a split second they had gone from the (relative) safety of the Artemis down onto the mostly unknown territory below.

((Genesis Planet - Surface))

The foursome found themselves in a small clearing, with each side flanked by rows of trees. Above them was a break in the canopy that let them peek into the uniquely hued, yet still blue, sky that was mostly clear. So far, this didn't seem like the worst place that they could have landed on.

While still trying to get his bearings, Savel reached to his side to take the tricorder from his belt and turn it on. While the others would be looking for more potentially interesting readings, he was only concerned with the one that would answer his most pressing question. Were they alone? After turning on the tricorder, he immediately started a scan for nearby lifesigns, specifically on the lookout for any that were curious enough to be heading their direction. Thankfully, it appeared to be some good news.

Savel: No lifesigns in our immediate area. For the moment, I believe that we are clear.

Jovenan/Gnai/Adea: Response

He did a quick check of their perimeter, scanning for signs of life in all directions before being fully satisfied that they weren't being watched from any of the nearby treelines. Not by anything he could detect, at least. Once he was finished, he walked back to the gathering of the team, glancing at the two Commanders.

Savel: This is my first actual planetary survey mission. Although our circumstances are somewhat unique, I would think our particular course of action would be rather routine. ::looking between Jovenan and Adea:: Where do we begin, sirs?

He knew what his job was. Making sure the team made it back to the Artemis in one piece. Or at least in pieces manageable enough to be put back together. Beyond that, however, he was unfamiliar with what else needed to be done.

Jovenan/Gnai/Adea: Response
