((Sickbay - Deck 3 - USS Karnack))
Munro: Now all we need to do is use the access in the quarantine suite to connect the rest of the necessary systems to the computer core.
MacKenzie: It's this way.
Bergmen: Response
Mackenzie led the way through Sickbay, as if it were her own. The fleet captain was a renowned doctor and surgeon before she was a commanding officer and seeing her within this setting just provided her with a more confident air. As if that was even possible.
Once inside the quarantine suite, power was stable to the terminals, they could immediately start the process. Despite this, starship systems never went right on the first try, and Mackenzie quickly stumbled onto a roadblock.
MacKenzie: I'm having trouble shunting power to the bridge.
The captain stepped aside to let the others take a look at the console.
Breys: Right now we aren’t getting enough power flow, the forcefields are taking up a lot of energy.
Munro: :: sighs :: We’re going to need to find some power reserves or cut some systems.
Bergmen: Response
MacKenzie: Trying to power up the systems on the bridge are going to require a lot of energy, likely more than we'll be able to route... I don't love the idea, but what if we were to cut power to the forcefields in this area and combine it with the power here in the quarantine suite?
Breys: I think we have some time to work, the fire should keep them distracted for a while longer. We can spare dropping the field if we move fast.
Munro: :: nods :: And when we say fast we mean we’ll need to run. The fastest way would be the turbolift shaft :: checks :: turbolifts are offline.
Bergmen: Response
Breys: I’ll prepare to drop the field and shunt it into the bridge. We might want to look into those cryogenic tools that I hope are laying around.
Munro: The supplies available will be limited. The ship was being decommissioned after all, they had already removed all the specialist equipment for reclamation. I’ll have a look anyway, see if I find something.
Bergmen//Mackenzie: Response
Grey got to work.
Breys: If we’re lucky we might have a few minutes. They seem really interested in our treat.
Ava could feel them, they were basking against the heat. Distracted for now. It was only a matter of time before they would change again. They’d feel the hunger, and that was more powerful than anything else.
Ava moved towards the doors, and applied the manual lock on the that would keep them open once they lost power to this area.
Bergmen/Mackenzie: Response
Breys: I’m shunting power from the forcefield now!
As the forcefields recalibrated and they lost their net, the thrumming of the deck disappeared and all the consoles went dead, she looked to the tricorder and it was blank again. It took her back to the first moments of waking up in the escape pod, upside down.
Munro: We need to go.
Ava led the way, she had memorised the route from the tricorder.
Bergmen/Mackenzie/Breys: Response
In the corridor, she turned to the shadows. She felt them … they were coming. And then they turned the corner, claws digging into the metal. A dozen of them.
Munro: Run!
Bergmen/Mackenzie/Breys: Response
Ava ignored the pain, the sensations and the feelings. Her own adrenaline kicked in as she sprinted across the corridor. The Things made chase.
She got to the hatch first, that would take them into the turbolift shaft. Ava pulled it open, and didn’t look at the Things that screamed behind them.
Munro: Get inside!
Ava pushed herself into the hatch and through into the shaft, and pulled herself upwards. Below them the turbolift must have been several decks down as there was nothing but a considerable drop.
Bergmen/Mackenzie/Breys: Response
