(( Holodeck 3, Deck 222, DS 224 ))

Cur-clunk rush-riser. The double doors of the Holodeck parted. The young Andorian stepped onto the yellow grid black box holodeck. He nodded at the other officers.

It had been a torturous repair schedule. Days of cramped EVA suits or cramped Jefferies Tubes had stretched into weeks. His late night stints calibrating medical equipment, a penance on his own time, hadn't helped much either. Even for Andorians needing very little sleep, there were limits.

Apparently, Lieutenant Minthar had set to the task of testing those limits by assigning the overworked Engineer to an Emergency Drill training session.

Bergmen: Greetings, everyone. I’m Lieutenant Junior Grade Ollie Bergmen. Thank you for signing up for this training and traveling here on Deep Space 224; your participation is greatly appreciated.

Tho'Bi: oO Signing Up? Oo

Bergmen: What we will drill this afternoon is something that I would not wish on anybody, yet it is a part of our duty as members of Starfleet. ::beat:: But if you do, you will want to be ready. As I will call your names, step onto your assigned markers, so we can begin. For Damage Control Team 1, which I will command, Ensigns Imril and Cole were chosen. ::beat:: Lieutenant Storm, you are the Duty Chief of DC Team 2. Your team members are Ensigns Tho’Bi, Meris, and Bancroft.

The Andorian Ensign moved to join his team. Standing next to Ensign Bancroft, he uttered a quiet acknowledgement.

Tho'Bi: ::quiet to Bancroft:: Crashcart

Photonic shudder. Orchestrated Force Fields cascaded to Emitter Matrix parameters. Holo-matter diffused into rendering. Omnidirectional holographic diodes aligned to pre-programmed specifications.

Bergmen: We are in a faithful reconstruction of Artemis' Aft Damage Control Room on Deck 15. As some of you know... ::Bergmen looked to Meris:: ...this DC room is a backup to DC Room 15-Main. The ship will suffer failure, and your task is to stop whatever happens to become critical, and if needed, evacuate the deck to protect the crew present. This is where this exercise will begin. ::a beat:: You may have questions... I know. The answer is - this is an emergency drill. Act like that. Think about what you will do, and what has priority to do first.

Blunt double tone. Combadge tap.

Bergmen: Computer, start the simulation.

Bulkheads and decking came to life with the low pulse of matter/antimatter reaction. The colourful graphics of LCARS control panels and displays blinked, grew and moved according to function.

Klaxon. Too loud. Always too loud. Red room, snapped in and out. Graphical three-dimensional representation of the Warp Core expanded on the Master Systems Display.

INTERMIX CHAMBER COOLANT LEAK

Darkness. One. Two. Three. Emergency Power snapped in.

WARP CORE AUTOMATIC SHUT DOWN

Bergmen: Radiation alert! Suit up!

Feet first. One leg then another. Arms next. Zip it up. Close flap to seal. Helmet.

Drills began back on Deep Space 3 when he was a kid. He couldn't remember how many. By the time he arrived at the Academy, it was beyond habit, it was muscle memory. He gave a thumbs up.

Storm/Bancroft: Response.

Imril/Cole: Response.

Bergmen: Lieutenant, take the corridor right from the DC room exit, and start evacuation to the upper decks. My team takes the corridor to the left. Try to get to the Main Engineering; we need to patch the breach or manually eject the warp core. Ok?

Storm: Response

Meris: Aye, Lieutenant. We’re right behind you.

The Helms Officer glanced back at Crashcart and the Andorian.

Tho'Bi: ::deliberate clear:: Aye, Aye, Lieutenant. Good to go.

Bancroft: Response

((OOC: GOING TO ASSUME TEAM 2 CAN NOT HEAR TEAM 1 COMS UNLESS EXPLICITY DIRECTED OTHERWISE))

The Andorian followed his team down the corridor on the right. Door control panels flashed in and out. The lighting dimmed in fits.

The young Engineer reached for his Engineering Tricorder.

Storm/Bancroft: Response.
