(( In Space - Laoi System, Minos Korva Sector, Alpha Quadrant ))

Vailani: It would take four days for the nearest ship to get here.

A Dominion wreck? This routine survey mission had just gotten much more serious and she found herself switching into a more action ready mode. She immediately checked over the weapons systems and made a mental note of the armaments they may need.

The war may be over but given the recent Frontier Day events she was not going to be caught unprepared. And she certainly had no intention of leaving it with Bin Pend for four more days.

Morgan: Sounds like it’s up to us, boss…

Zoyara nodded, she was less concerned with the ‘boss’ jibe and more interested to get on the planet. Her mind thought of all the simulations of Jem Hadar battles she'd had to endure and maybe just maybe they weren't for naught.

Sadar: ::lamenting:: I’m really not good with Tellarites. =/\= We’d be happy to help, Administrator Bim Pend. =/\=

Bim Pend: =/\= - and don’t get me started on the structural longevity of- Huh? Oh. Very well. We’ll be ready to receive you in Bantlox. =/\=

Sadar: =/\= Thank you, Administrator. =/\=

Bim Pend: =/\= ::loud grumpy sounds:: =/\=

Silveira tapped in the controls and adjusted the shuttle's course.

Silveira: Course set. You can tell them we are on our way.

Sadar: Vai-net, if you could send that? ::wrings her hands::

Zoyara took a moment to realise that, despite the use of the friendly moniker, Gila had just given her an order. It was an unusual sensation of pride and reluctant indignation - but mainly pride. Gila really was coming into her own as the boss

Vailani: Yes ssii - sure Gila-net

Imril/Morgan/Gnai: Response

Silveira: I got this, but just in case, everyone strap up and keep an eye on the systems. I managed to make thirty eight landings in forty two.

Zoyara couldn't resist the eye roll. If she was able to, she'd gag Silveira permanently. Everything that came out of his mouth made everything more dangerous.

Imril/Morgan: Response

Gnai: Response

Silveira: In simulations obviously. Still that’s a pretty good average, considering I am not a pilot or helmsman. And if you're wondering how many actual atmospheric landings I did, it’s one. Counting this one…

As Gila hurriedly strapped herself into a chair, Zoyara returned to the copilot chair, a side eyed glare at Silveira then she too checked her restraints.

oO Prophets don't let me die because of this man Oo

Sadar: ::obsessive chanting:: “Resist not the turn of the Wheel and let the guidance of the ancestors provide the lessons of the future.”

Imril/Morgan: Response

(((Timeskip: One harrowing landing later)))

(( Outside Water Treatment Plant - Outskirts of the Bantlox Colony, Laoi III ))

Imril/Morgan/Silveira/Gnai: Response

After a not so great, and terrifying landing the away team were less than their best. Or at least she was.

She tried to focus as they were met by a group of colonists, led by Tellarite Administrator Bim Pend. She had taken to wearing her hair down, and she pushed the  blonde locks behind her ears and smoothed out the ends as a way of calming herself.

The Administrator stepped forward, flanked by two aides. Gila met them.

Sadar: Administrator Bim Pend? I’m Doctor Gila Sadar, and these are my colleagues from the USS Artemis-A.

Zoyara nodded towards them and tried to make herself look more relaxed, and not so much her frowning self. Not that it mattered much.

Bim Pend: Yes yes yes, good to meet you, follow me.

The Administrator waved for them to follow him, as he started leading them around the large building.

Vailani: Adminstrator do you still use the same water source from the original landing site? You've never upgraded your water system before now?

They were led through a complicated network of criss crossing differently coloured pipes.

Imril/Morgan/Silveira/Gnai: Response

Bim Pend: Just standard expansion, digging out room for some new pipes, getting room for the extra compartment. Only, a bloody ship wing was in the way of our new piping.

Zoyara observed several large tanks of water.

Bim Pend: It’s mostly still underground, but evidently, we’ve uncovered enough for whatever’s still active in there to wreak havoc on our plant. Ever since we found the darn thing, our computers have been on the fritz, messing with the composition of our water.

Sadar: Anything that’s led to health hazards for any of your colonists so far?

Bim Pend: Not yet, but it’s just a matter of time. Hence why we need you Starfleet-types to figure out how we deal with this.

They were then led round a bend, and realised that they were on the upper section of a manufactured ridge that looked down on the coast and ocean itself. Next to that was a large, freshly dug hole, connected to the ridge by hastily erected walkways and various construction sites.

In the centre of the digsite was a long, crooked grey starship wing that appeared to reach for the sky, like a monolith of pale bone, the skeleton of an extinct monster.

Vailani: :: dumbfounded :: That's the wing of a Jem'Hadar attack ship. It must have been scouting the area …

Zoyara couldn't help but wonder what became of the crew. The existence of this colony of civilians apparently provided a very grim prognosis for the Jem’Hadar soldiers that would have occupied that ship.

Imril/Morgan/Silveira/Gnai/Sadar: Response

Bim Pend: Response

Vailani: Wouldn't a planetary survey have detected this?

Imril/Morgan/Silveira/Gnai/Sadar: Response

Bim Pend: Response

Zoyara followed the others as they took one of the makeshift pathways that mainly consisted of metallic grates that formed a rudimentary, uneven walkway to the digsite. On the way they passed several large machines and now discarded piping.

Her mind tried to funnel through the information that was being dissected. To her, outside of maintaining safety, was to secure the database. There wasn't an active war at present but there may be untold intel within the ships computer system that could be of important historical record or provide further tactical education to Starfleet.

She couldn't help but think of her father, his voice appeared to follow her around. Less influential than it once was but still as loud as ever. He'd be overjoyed to find such a thing, except she wouldn't have thought he'd have spared a thought for the Jem'Hadar soldiers. If they hadn't have died in the crash, the fate would have been a torturous and slow death of ketracel white withdrawals.

Vailani: :: to Gila :: Securing the computer database should be a priority once we've made it safe for the colonists and ourselves.

Imril/Morgan/Silveira/Gnai/Sadar: Response
