K'Wara: Hey, I like that! Get some more bets in! If Roy losing is a done deal, may as well make it a matter of whether it’s a close call or not.

Tamio grinned innocently, before another development happened down on the track.

Storm: Oh my!  Look at this now.  ::Gesturing to the supine man laying on the track.::

The attempts to remove or dissuade the sablecat had become a clumsy farce. The three figures taking turns being put on their back by their heavy playmate.

K’Wara: The half-time show is almost as exciting as the race.

Imril: The cat’s owner’s excuses should be very interesting, when they show up to make them.

Vailani: Response

Storm: I’m not sure they’re going to be gone in time for Commander Munro to run that section of the track.

K’Wara: ::makes a bellow with their hands:: Jump it, Ava! Long distance it!

Imril: I’m not so sure the Commander can win a jumping contest with a cat.

More likely, she’d just draw its attention for trying. Another game to play with athletes who’d rather get back to competing with each other.

Storm:  I think Ro…ctor. Bancroft is gaining on her.

Tamio shook their head. Likely having also picked up on Storm’s switching to last-name-basis with ‘Doctor Bancroft’.

K’Wara: Indeed, the good ‘Roctor’ seems to finally be getting his engines warmed up. Come on, Roy, get up there! ::claps:: 

Imril: Keep back ‘til the cat glomps her, and sneak around!

Vailani/Storm: Response

K’Wara: At least slightly closer would be preferable. ::to the group:: So Vailani’s a holoprogrammer, I’m a sculptor, Ava and Roy are obviously jocks. What about the two of you?

Imril: I tinker here and there. Build projects. 

Vailani/Storm: Response

The engineer had no expectation that this crowd would care for any technobabble-laden talk of their more practical R&D projects, so they spoke instead of their more ‘frivolous’ works.

Imril: I build models now and then. ::Thinking up examples:: I put together a mock-up of Vitor’s arcade holo, back when I was helping him expand it. Kept adding pieces to it as the program got bigger. And I made up a glass-walled variant of the old XCV ships for a holodeck program. Liked how it looked so much I made myself a miniature version for my quarters. 

It had been sitting on a shelf waiting for them when they got back from the Maelstrom.
