(( Conference Room - Deck 1 - USS Karnack ))

Imril: What’s a world you’ve always wanted to see but haven't gotten to, yet?

Ollie glanced upwards. Gently, he let his fingers glide along the smooth skin of their hand. They answered the motion with a similar one across the man’s wrist. Like the pronouncements that had preceded the gestures, it was something that had to be committed to now while it still could be done as Imril intended.

What would their hand feel like tomorrow?

Bergmen: Yeah, which I haven't gotten to… (beat) That scratches off most of the holiday planets. Bummer, I know...

He shrugged his shoulders softly and tilted his head.

Bergmen: Ok, plus I would like to scratch off the cold planets from that list too. I don’t like the cold.

Imril’s pulse quickened at the mention of cold. They’d developed a sensitivity to light, as proven at the Bridge. Outright repulsion to cold couldn’t be that far away.

Bergmen: Ba’Ku? Do you know Ba’Ku?

It took Imril a moment of reflection to recognize that the answer was ‘yes’. The planet Baku lay near or within the Briar Patch, and therefore was considered to be part of the Borderlands. A slightly younger Imril had spent the flight from Starbase 118 to Artemis reading up on the region of space they had been assigned to. Many of the planets, though, were covered as short blurbs. Links to larger articles, not all of which they had followed up on.

Imril: It’s been a while, but yes. I recall something about a crazy admiral teaming up with some Son’a to drive the natives off the planet for some reason. ::Can’t recall the reason:: Pretty and pastoral, If I remember correctly.

My, there were a lot of crazy admirals in Starfleet. For all of their ambitions for their career in the organization, they might just leave achieving that rank off the list entirely.

Bergmen: Response.

And which world would Imril want to visit? It was more a case of which sort of world.

Imril: I want to see a Dyson sphere. An engineering marvel and a strange new world rolled into one.

Imril was aware of two which they might be able to visit some day; the Jenolan sphere from which Montgomery Scott had been recovered, and one in the Delta Quadrant’s Pouiyeog Sector. Either presented mysteries yet to be solved. One of the largest being just how they’d been built in the first place.

Bergmen: Response.

Imril: But right now, just seeing the stars again is astounding. With you, even better.

Imril sat quietly, hand touching hand, watching the galaxy race by. Letting the moment last as long as it could.

Bergmen: Response.

TAGS/ TBC

((OOC: I am assuming the Fountain Of Youth effect on Baku was classified for the Bakus’ safety and some other motive for the events of Insurrection is given as official. I found nothing in the Starbase 188 Wiki or Memory Beta to indicate that either of the named Dyson spheres were ever classified.))
