Ensign Kel Solas - Stunned Pride

((Sickbay, USS Artemis-A))

Solas grumbled and hoisted himself onto the exam bed. Meanwhile, Commander Genkos pressed a few buttons that activated the biobed, patiently waiting for it to conduct its automated scan. 

Kel: You told me to get some rest and recover. Maybe I’m a bit….too relaxed is all. 

Genkos pursed his lips in a subtle show of amusement.

Adea: Well it’s a fine line, balancing that. 

Solas looked down at his leg grimly and muttered. 

Kel: Well….at least I’m keeping off of it.

Adea: That’s very true. 

The commander looked at the results of the biobed scan and tapped away. Probably to get some more details.

Adea: Well it’s all looking promising, any pain that I should know about?

Solas shifted a little uncomfortably. 

Kel: well I mean. It still *hurts* of course but nothing has really changed. Like it’s sore and stuff but it doesn’t keep me up or make sitting too hard.  

Adea: I see, and movement - how does this feel? Tight? Painful at all?

The commander roared his foot a bit. No new pain emerged but it felt off. 

Kel: Tight, yeah. Almost like I’m clenching the muscles around the ankle. Even though I’m not. I think that happens when I walk too. 

The Commander nodded and appeared to make some notes. 

Adea: Response

Solas grimaced as the commander continued his examination, moving the hybrid man’s foot in ways that probably served some medical purpose. 

Kel: I know I’m lucky the phaser didn’t slice my leg off but shouldn’t it be healed by now? 

Adea: Response

Solas sighed and leaned back in his seat as the Commander continued to move his leg around. 

Kel: No that doesn’t hurt. Or at least doesn’t make it hurt worse. Although my outer thigh feels a bit numb when you do that. 

Adea: Response. 

Solas leaned back a bit and stared up at the ceiling. 

Kel: I know this is silly but after the whole Borg incident I thought my first major injury would be something I’d be proud of. Like taking a shot meant for the captain or something. But here I am hole up on shore leave because I literally shot myself in the foot. It’s embarrassing, I think even my mother would have a hard time disagreeing. 

Adea: Response
