(( Main Mess Hall - Deck 3, USS Artemis-A ))

All ships, no matter old or new, would inevitably end up developing some sort of tradition. The most famed example, perhaps, were the rumoured poker nights of Admiral Picard’s old crew aboard the Enterprise-D, but it was true for all Ships in the fleet. Tamio still remembered with great fondness the weekly Holodeck sport events on the Churchill, the monthly science exhibitions on the Princeton, and the music nights of the Arthur Royale. Every crew would inevitably find that tradition that brought them together and allowed them to - at least for a night - be united in something that wasn’t work.

They’d spent a lot of their first week aboard the Artemis trying to suss out what that thing was for the Artemis crew, and as they stood in the open door leading into the Main Mess hall that night, staring at a veritable gaggle of Artemis junior officers and crewmen all converging around colorful boxes and holographic interfaces, they did believe they may have found it. Or at least one such thing.

Lieutenant and up were a rarity in this space, Tamio gathered as they looked around at the tables, but thankfully Tamio was still so new to the Ship that none of the gathered crew seemed to recognize them. It certainly helped that they weren’t in uniform, and instead dressed in an olive green gypsy shirt and a red sequin skort. At this time of night - as indicated by the dimmed lighting and the chronometer on the wall display - only Artemis crew were aboard, and Tamio figured sleeping was a waste of time when they could, instead, be mingling.

Standing by the large table set up by one wall, with numerous different colorful packages and data rods, stood two fellow Artemisians, one familiar and one far less so. But by golly, was the stranger tall.

Tamio smiled disarmingly as they approached the two.

K’Wara: Well now, this seems like a party.

Meris/Tho’Bi: Response

Tamio looked around the room, their felinoid eyes passing briefly over a wall decoration that seemed like something of a ‘leaderboard’ of sorts with numerous notices and rankings posted. One they noticed was a square yellow notice with a wobbly pink plate of jell-o on it that kept repeating the phrase ‘Beware the Min-Max Jell-O’, and Tamio hummed curiously.

oO Wonder what that’s about… Oo

K’Wara: It’s good to meet you, Tho’Bi. My name’s Tamio. ::friendly look to Meris:: Arrived around the same time as Meris, right?

oO Ball’s in your court, Ensign. Oo

Meris/Tho’Bi: Response

Tamio looked at the festivities going around. At the various tables around the room, they could see people playing 3D chess in a sort of tournament, while others were neck-deep in a very animated session of ‘Qupids’, a strategy game all about pairing up the right historical figures with the right historical events - or not, for even more insane results. The most festive table, however, was a table of ‘Rules of Acquisition: The Game’, where evidently crewman was about to steal all of an Officer’s hard-earned Latinum through the creative application of Rule #31 (Never make fun of a Ferengi's mother) and the Officer was threatening a disciplinary for it. All in good fun, Tamio was sure.

K’Wara: Well, I’m dying to try one of these things. Have any of you played these games before? I’m afraid I’ve never really dabbled in boardgames before.

Meris/Tho’Bi: Response

Tag/TBC

(( OOC: While I’ve left tags for Tho’Bi and Meris specifically, all who may be interested in joining Boardgame night on Deck 3 (or just come by to complain about the noise XD ) are welcome to do so! ))
