Gila was preparing for another full day of work at Sickbay, taking over from the Beta Shift at the turn of the hour. Shift rotation was probably the time of the day where Sickbay was most busy during shore leave, since any injuries that occurred during the course of their designated ‘time off’ was - usually - minor.

Granted, some individuals seemed perpetually incapable of staying away from mortal danger even while entirely unprovoked to seek out such activities. Her own recent blunder of an attempt at recreation in the Gamma Quadrant came to mind, alongside some rumors about excursions to Bajor leading to a rather explosive outcome. Gila had to wonder: was a complete and utter disregard for one’s own safety and welfare a requirement for serving on the USS Artemis alone, or were all Starfleet vessels like this?

Whatever the case, Gila was looking forward to an entirely routine day at the office - so to speak - with a few scheduled check-ups lined up, but an otherwise empty calendar. It would seem that she could make some serious headway on some of her more neglected research projects today, so long as no major crisis demanded her attention.

First of all, however, was a physical exam with one of their latest hires. This one was one she was looking forward to, for the sole reason that she was a bit biased. In general, she found physical exams with some alien species tended to go over far better than others.

Vulcans, hybrids or no, tended to be good patients, so long as they understood your diagnosis.

The medical cart was all stocked-up and prepared, courtesy of Beta shift, so Gila was all ready to follow her first patient of the shift to a vacant bed.

Sadar: I’ve read over your latest medical notes from the Academy, but as I’m sure we can both agree, a fair deal has occurred since your graduation. ::nervous smile:: Any medical concerns before we begin?
