((Molly Malone’s Irish Pub - Deck 225, Deep Space 224))

With a thankful pivot away from food talk Lyara was happy to have a more frank conversation about each other’s plans for this shore leave.

Lyara: For shore leave I’m still looking for some things to do.

MacKenzie: No plans? Really? ::raising her arms:: Well, there’s plenty to do here, so you’ve go options…

Lyara: Well I am going to call my parents, it’s been a hot minute and I’m sure they’re praying daily that I haven’t found myself out of an airlock.

Lyara chuckled to herself as she took a sip of her drink. She could imagine her mom’s reaction to her getting stabbed, thankfully there would be a screen separating them but Alroyo would never hear the end of it.

MacKenzie: I’m sure they’re not the only ones…

Lyara: Sadly I’m missing the gratitude festival at home, but I’m sure there’s a temple I can get my prayers in at.

Not that she exactly missed the hours of praying her parents would take her to do. She was always a more short and concise prayer kind of person than the “Dear Prophets, today i blah blah” for four hours.

MacKenzie: I think there is one here, even though we’re pretty far from Bajor. If not, I’m sure the holodeck could replicate something comparable.

Alroyo took another sip of her drink and looked to MacKenzie.

Lyara: What about you sir? Do you have any outstanding plans while we’re at mother base?

Addison waved the completely cleaned bone in front of her face and shook her head as she discarded the wing onto her plate.

MacKenzie: No, the fleet is a mess since Frontier Day – we have a lot of catching up to do. The benefit of being here is that I get to actually keep my attention on it instead of being focused on the immediate threat.

It was hard to deny the fleet had been a mess since that fateful day. Even if she was on Bajor when it happened, the reverberations of it could be felt all throughout the Federation and Starfleet. But at least it sounded like MacKenzie was finally getting around to playing catch up with the Borderlands.

Lyara: I understand that sir, I hope the workload isn’t too tough on you.

MacKenzie reached for a napkin and began to clean the grease off her fingertips. Once they were clean enough she tossed the napkin onto the bar and finished her drink with one last swig.

MacKenzie: Well, I hope you have a chance to connect with your parents while things are quiet. If there’s not a temple here, definitely consider using the holodeck. I wouldn’t be surprised though – there’s so much on the station even I haven’t discovered yet.

Lyara: Sounds like I’ve got some exploring to do then.

It’s not like she had enough to do on her hands, but exploring would be a great task for when she’s off duty. Or when she gets sick of all the PADDwork.

MacKenzie: Thank you for the meal. I’m sure you’ll have no problem staying out of trouble and avoiding the airlock.

Lyara: No promises, captain.

Alroyo chuckled to herself as the captain gave her a nod and made her way out the pub.

Once Addison was out of the pub she let out a deep sigh of relief, she half expected to be chewed out in the pub. So a friendly conversation was a very welcome surprise. Alroyo finished her drink and nodded her thanks to the bartender then got up to exit the bar. It was time to find a temple.
