to Main Artemis
((Bridge, Deck 1 - USS Artemis))

The turbolift ground to a halt at the control hub of the ship, and the doors groaned open. The gold-adorned Vulcan engineer within shuffled around the plethora of PADDs in his possession, scratching at a healed palm that still subconsciously ached. The palm had been burned early on in the last... adventure, and despite the liberal and effective use of a dermal regenerator, the memory of the scars still pricked at his logical mind. If there was only time for extended self meditation... but alas, duty called.

Salkath approached the center of the bridge, where the two most senior officers of the Artemis were quietly conferring. The bridge was at minimum stations, understandable considering the state of the crew and the amount of casualties aboard. With the Borg-slash-Changeling threat at a conclusion, everyone was licking their wounds, this ship included. With a polite throat-clearing to announce his presence, he spoke up.

Salkath: Captain, Commander. The damage reports you requested.

MacKenzie/Dakora: response

Salkath: ::juggling the PADDs:: The reports are extensive. Perhaps we could adjourn to your ready room? ::quick correction:: Or the conference room, I mean?

His verbal faux pas had elicited strange and disparate emotional responses in the two officers before him; Salkath paid them little heed as he was mentally prostrating himself. Exhaustion was settling in, and as prideful as the assertion was, the engineer felt his Vulcan heritage should grant him some immunity from the effects of exceedingly long shifts. As evidenced by his momentary memory lapse, this just wasn't true.

MacKenzie/Dakora: response

He cradled his cargo so as to free up an arm to sweep forward, inviting his superiors to lead the way. Following them, Salkath let them exit the bridge into the expansive room that seemed much too big for just the three of them, but at least there was plenty of room to spread out the PADDs.

Dakora: response

Salkath: Yes, sir. ::flicking through the reports::  Ahem. The primary comms array junction still needs a complete rebuild. As does the secondary sensor control room in the pod. The port ventral phaser array is still inoperable, and there are various small hull breaches along the array on deck 17. The main shuttlebay needs extensive maintenance after explosive decompression and a crashed shuttle across the deck plating. Somehow, the upper computer core sustained blast damage. ::this one was particularly irksome to Salkath, and it likely showed on his face::  We are fortunate that critical systems were not irreparably disrupted by that. Numerous consoles, panels, and hatches throughout the ship. Shipwide EPS issues. Oh. And one more... a hull breach on deck one...

He peeked a raised eyebrow over the top of his upraised PADD at that one.

MacKenzie: response

Dakora: response

Salkath: As is to be expected, we are far down the list for access to space dock facilities throughout the Sol sector. All considering the state of the fleet, we were fortunate. Whatever repairs we can effect ourselves, we will have to do. It will take time.

MacKenzie: response

Salkath: ::an uncharacteristic shrug:: We cannot hazard a guess. Proportionate to the crew, the engineering department is suffering from widespread physical and emotional trauma, not to mention sheer exhaustion. Those of us who remain on active duty are stretched thin.

Thus was the reason why a matter replication specialist was making such a report for his entire department. If the engineering crew as a whole was worked to the bone, that much more so were their departmental leaders. Salkath knew the captain and first officer could relate.

Dakora: response

Salkath: Compile a priority list, and we will ensure that repair crews tackle them as efficiently as they can. ::pause:: However, if I may be so bold, I would suggest you entreat Command to place the Artemis on an extended break from active duty. We need time. And I would not be surprised if my department wasn't the first to suggest this need.

MacKenzie/Dakora: response
