((Arboretum - Deck 3 - USS Artemis-A))
The crew of the Artemis had a bit of a medical mystery on their hands. While the medical and science teams on board were competent and carried the captain's confidence, when she'd discovered that a former crew member with a unique skill set was nearby and possibly willing to help, she did what any good doctor would do: she called in a consult.
Lorana: Captain?
MacKenzie turned at the sound of the familiar voice to greet the woman with a smile. It had been years since she'd seen the Caitaian - the one for whom she'd served as Academy proctor and then served as an ensign on the Artemis for a short time after its launch - and now the one who'd left Starfleet to pursue scientific research. In many ways, what was a loss for one was a gain for another. Still, it would be out of character for her to not subtly reveal that she'd been keeping tabs on the woman since she'd left the Artemis.
MacKenzie: ::playfully, with mock seriousness:: I see you remember where the arboretum is. But you're underdressed.
Lorana: Its nice to see you. As you can see, I don't wear the uniform anymore, I temporarily took leave of my commission. Long and traumatic story that I won't bore you with. I'm here in my capacity as a diplomatic envoy and my role with the Caitian Division of Research, Exploration and Development. I received a communiqué from your medical department. Do you have some genetic mutations?
MacKenzie offered the PADD she'd been holding that contained their preliminary data.
MacKenzie: Truthfully, I don't know what it is we have. I'm hoping you might be able to help.
Lorana: Response
MacKenzie: We've got a slew of good doctors aboard, but none of us are geneticists. At least, not with experience to the degree that you have.
Lorana: Response
She offered a sympathetic gaze.
MacKenzie: What do you think? Something you can help with?
Lorana: Response
