(( Bridge - Deck 1, USS Artemis-A ))
With the leader of the Yurum Sectarian Faction, Luirétt, requesting asylum from the Artemis and the inevitable pursuit of the Boraxians to reclaim their people who appeared to be extraordinarily important to them on many levels. Probably more so than was even apparent at this stage.
The words that Luirétt had used. Uproar. Chaos. These weren't exactly the normal response to a population when an element chooses to leave on their own free will.
With a confident stride she strode across the bridge.
Munro: Ensign Meris, can you work with Luirétt at the mission ops station. Use the data from the sensor pods, I want an ETA on the Boraxian arrival. Lt Storm, issue that warning to all the telepaths and empaths on the crew and get me a status update from our away teams.
Meris: Of course, Captain. ::to Luirétt:: Luirétt, if you’ll walk this way. ::motioning towards Mission Ops::
Luirétt: Y-Yes...
Storm: Aye, Sir.
As both officers began their tasks, she took to the centre seat again. Her eye went to the small display, mission reports came in from across the departments.
Storm: =/\= Storm to Silveira=/\=
Silveira: =/\= Silveira here.
Storm: =/\=The Captain would like a status update on your group.=/\=
Munro: =/\= Commander, I'm eager to have your return to the Artemis, how are the repairs coming along? =/\=
The last thing she needed was two away teams with her senior officers on the colony ship when the Boraxians arrived.
Silveira: =/\= Well, with the help of one of our DOTs are repairing the Theta radiation leak. It’s something to do with their accelerators, or generators. Once he isn’t busy I can have Ensign Tho’Bi sending you the details. We also recovered the damaged parts and are analysing it. There are signs of a potential sabotage. Also, Ensign Cole found out some of the lighting system interferes with our physiology.
Storm: =/\= Really? That’s … significant=/\=
Ava looked to Storm, remembering how she forgot the alert status of the ship. From what she understood about the officer, this would be out of character for her.
Munro: =/\= Yes :: beat :: The Yurum are particularly sensitive to touch telepathy as well. Or at least Lt Storm was =/\=
Silveira: =/\= It affects us differently than it does the Boraxians. There are some side effects but I don’t think it's dangerous unless we spend an abnormal amount of time here. I asked Ensign Cole to collect her findings and send it back. I suggest informing the other away team.
Munro: =/\= Noted. Do you have any idea who may have sabotaged the ship and why? =/\=
Storm: =/\= Response =/\=
Silveira: =/\= My gut feeling says that Ensign Cole has the right theory about that. I believe the damage, if deliberate, was meant to make New Hope traceable or at least easily detected.
Munro: =/\= I was hoping for some good news. Commander please continue with those repairs and return to the Artemis as soon as they are complete. =/\=
Storm/Silveira: =/\= Response =/\=
Ava nodded towards Storm to indicate the ending of the comm call.
Munro: Alert Commander Jovenan’s team -
Meris: Captain, I believe we have it.
Finally, something was going their way.
Munro: Ensign Meris you have just made me a very happy woman. What you got?
Meris/Storm/Luirétt: Response
Ava acknowledged.
Munro: So we know what direction they are heading? Luirétt you may not know but is it likely they would send out scout ships? :: swallows :: Or fighters? Our records don't have much details beyond the trading vessels.
Luirétt: Response
She took to her feet and stepped forward several steps.
Ops Officer: Captain, we have something … several ships … one of them is …
Meris/Storm/Luirétt: Response
As the reports from the officers came in she only listened. The time had come.
Munro: On screen.
Meris/Storm/Luirétt: Response
The entire visage of the screen was filled with a spherical mass, it's surface appeared to be shielded with a transparent veil, within she could see towers and spires. A city.
This was the home of the Boraxians. A breathtaking sight of endurance and ingenuity. A people who had made exploration their home.
It was flanked by a fleet of much smaller ships, in a similar design style to the colony ship but much more advanced and lethal.
All around her, consoles lit up and the bridge burst into activity with alerts and chirps as information flooded in.
Munro: I guess they wanted to say hello.
