Gila had been very relieved when the call had been made for her to beam up to the Artemis to handle the radiation issue during the last mission. Considering the mission debriefings that had been submitted once the away teams got back to the Artemis, things had gotten massively derailed after she beamed back aboard the vessel, and she felt rather certain that she’d saved herself unnecessary stress by not being on Ground Zero during the majority of that encounter.

To say nothing of the fact that their already strained Hyronalyn reserves had been tapped once more during the mission, due to the unforeseen complication of a stranded Orion scout ship leaking radiation into a civilization ill-fit to counteract such a health hazard. Next time they were up for a resupply, Gila wouldn’t accept anything less than a full restock. It was just her luck that the one mission where they were in dire need of medicine was the one time where their medicine replication resources didn’t cut it.

It was an embarrassment. One she wasn’t keen to repeat.

It was with the knowledge that their previous mission could’ve very well ended in failure - both in terms of handling the First Contact with the Meirashi, as well as rectifying the unfortunate impact of a premature cultural contamination - that had prompted Gila to do a thorough house cleaning in Sickbay when the Artemis withdrew from the Ura Neteos system to return to DS224. Perhaps more thorough than was necessary, but it was a good way to keep busy. The next step on her list was a report, and for that reason, she soon stood before the door to the CMO’s office, pressing the doorbell.

Commander Adea’s voice followed soon after.

Adea: Enter.

Gila stepped through, wielding a PADD in one of her long arms, as she looked upon her department chief by his desk. He was immaculate as ever - no one looking at him would think what he’d been through just a few days ago - and yet something in his countenance told her that he was, in fact, not completely recovered from the ordeals on Meirash.

Adea: Lieutenant, good to see you. ::he gestured to a seat on the other side of the desk:: Take a seat, ::he then wafted his hand towards a tin on said desk:: have a biscuit. I’ll make us a pot of tea.

oO Doctor Oo

She allowed a slight slip in her usually guarded composure.

Sadar: Thank you, Sir.

Rebuilding the careful and measured intent with which she carried herself whenever in contact with her telepathic chief, she took to the seat that was indicated to her, and cautiously withdrew one of the sweets from the tin that Commander Adea had indicated, while he approached the replicator. Within moments, tea was brewing on the desk, and a delicious scent wafted through the room.

Adea: So, Gila, how are things?

Nodding obediently, Gila turned to the PADD to complete her report.

Sadar: The work is progressing as intended. The radiation profile for the Meirashi people has been uploaded to Starfleet Medical’s databases, and logged in the species encounter logs for any future dealings Starfleet might have with them once their society progresses to the necessary thresholds. The residual radiation from the nebula has also been completely scrubbed from the Artemis’ internal systems.

Adea: Response

Sadar: Yes Sir. The intent is to have our medical stores completely restocked by the time we set out again, but DS224 is similarly low at the moment, so it might be a while. I would recommend we refrain from radiation diving until such a time as our replicator rations have recovered.

Adea: Response

Gila cleared her throat slightly, discomfort as the conversation moved away from the work she’d been drowning herself in for many days. She still wasn’t accustomed to having her family life be so openly available information to her colleagues - Mizarians believed very much in the separation of personal and professional life - and knowing that Kolya could, at any moment, appear during her workday was still something she was struggling to get accustomed to.

Sadar: No, uhh... Th-Things are... Good? I-I’ve almost finished moving into our new family quarters, and Kolya’s taking the chance to acquire furnishings for his room while we’re on DS224.

A venture that the expressive teen had taken to with excessive eagerness, as far as Gila was concerned, but she supposed he’d never truly been allowed the freedom to customize his world to his own imagination to this extent.

She only hoped she’d still be able to recognize their quarters once his shopping had concluded.

Adea: Response
