MacKenzie's team started to make some headway. At present, they were examining logs for any discrepancies. Ensign Breys, taking point, began to read off numbers from her data sheet. There were occasionally small variances, but nothing that seemed to raise any immediate flags. That was, until they got to one particular cell - the variance was so large it was beyond improbable.

Breys: My readout is a tenth of that, what does the sheet label that cell as?

MacKenzie's eyes narrowed slightly as her gaze shifted between Breys and Silveira.

MacKenzie: I'm going to guess that's not a good thing...

Silveira: It’s not necessarily bad, just odd how the numbers surge up in the latest test, compared to the ones before. ::he turned to Breys briefly:: It’s power allocation variations.

Breys: It doesn’t seem like they gave us bad data, they just hid the important test from us.

MacKenzie: And so what conclusion does that suggest?

Vitor took a deeper dive, offering a further examination of the reports.

Silveira: That the ship handles more power. Or at least in these late tests it used more that wasn’t recorded before, or not considered for using. Sounds like they were experimenting and not exactly with Jestripar knowledge.

For a moment, he turned to look between the two of them.

Breys: Maybe they were using the additional stability of the dilithium reaction to increase power throughput. Though that much power needs to be feeding something large or it’d start blowing conduits.

This time, she nodded equally as slowly, with a sense of affirmation this time.

MacKenzie: Mr. Silveira, I believe in your line of work, they call that a lead.

Silveira: I believe so, Captain.

Breys: Next we just need to find what the power feeds to, right?

Vitor leaned forward, tapping in on the console. He didn't get far before authorization was required.

Silveira: Dammit… I can’t get the schematics, they are safeguarded.

Breys seemed to be excited by the opportunity to promote their expertise.

Breys: You could try modifying the fine data grid, it looks like you might be able to trick the system into bypassing the safeguards if you can pull a portion of the power flow data into it, if any of it is unprotected the rest might get dragged along with it.

MacKenzie: And let's try to be mindful not to set off any booby traps...

Vitor kept trying, raising a finger when he recalled something of value.

Silveira: Excel…

Breys: What?

MacKenzie very briefly caught eyes with Breys, who seemed to be just as lost as she was. The CO could only offer the slightest sympathetic shrug.

Silveira: Sorry, ignore me, I just remembered what this looked like. Anyway if your ship power distribution raises like that there’s a few things it can be… ::he turned to Zie:: And yes I know that you know what I will say next… Weapons. But bare with me, it might be something else.

Addison looked to her Chief Tactical Officer for a moment before she just couldn't help herself any longer.

MacKenzie: ::deadpan:: Weapons.

Seemingly unphased, he tipped his head and leaned even closer looking at his tricorder and the console screen.

Silveira: It’s been many years since I was in Operations, and only briefly, but if we keep translating the data we might see where the energy allocations are directed.
Even if we can’t get a proper ship schematic…

Silveira: It’s been many years since I was in Operations, and only briefly, but if we keep translating the data we might see where the energy allocations are directed.

Even if we can’t get a proper ship schematic…

Breys: That… might work.

She didn’t mean to sound that surprised.

MacKenzie: Worth a shot.

In the distance, they could hear the voices of K'Wara and Jetripar returning. The team was running out of time - they needed to make the most of their unsupervised access to the Da'al systems.

Breys: ::quietly:: Depending on how we think Jetripar would feel about us doing this, we might need to work quickly.

MacKenzie: I think you're right, Ensign.

Silveira: Response

Breys: It seems like whatever this was, it was being hidden from him as well. Chances are Havrun made it so he can’t access the data either.

Silveira: Response

The voices were very slowly getting closer. D’tin thought she could hear steps. She was getting more anxious. She didn’t want to be caught in the middle of a diplomatic incident on her first mission that wasn’t a crash landing.

Breys: Lt. Commander, Sir. How goes that data search?

The worry in her voice was obvious.

Silveira: Response

MacKenzie: Let me see if I can run some interference.

(OOC: Going to briefly split things here - Breys and Silveira can/should feel free to continue this line as needed.)

As K'Wara and Jetripar made their way back into the room, she tried to head them off, hopefully buying the other two more time.

MacKenzie: Commander K'Wara, Secretary Jetripar. ::mostly to K'Wara:: What were you able to learn?

K'Wara/Jetripar: Response

MacKenzie nodded along. Trying to buy more time, she decided now would be the appropriate time to drop the figurative bomb that the Secretary likely hadn't been made aware of yet.

MacKenzie: Mr. Secretary, my first officer informs me that there was an explosion in the hangar... They suspect sabotage.

K'Wara/Jetripar: Response

Clearly displeased with the turn of events and wanting to hasten the pace of the Starfleet group's work, MacKenzie could sense Jetripar's growing agitation, so she raised her voice to warn the others in her group that their time was just about up.

MacKenzie: Commander, Ensign, were you able to uncover anything useful?

Breys/Silveira: Response

K'Wara/Jetripar: Response
