((Conference Room - Deck 1, USS Artemis))

Talos sat at the long table in the Artemis’ conference room with Captain MacKenzie and Commander Salkath who seemed to have his hands full in coordinating the Artemis’ repairs.

They had tossed around some ideas for speeding up what looked to be a lengthy refurbishment process and Talos had even suggested reaching out to FleetCaptain Ranier on DS224 for assistance. They had a long history of returning to that base in need of extensive repairs that even pre-dated their time on the Excalibur, much to Ranier’s chagrin.

Dakora: The faster we are repaired the sooner we can get back to keeping the peace in her backyard. It's worth an ask. That's all I'm saying….

MacKenzie: ::raising her hands:: No, it’s a good point. I’ll put in the request and see if they have any free hands and other materials.

Salkath: Response

He looked to Salkath, then back to MacKenzie. It seemed the Vulcan Engineer had a pretty good handle on things while Hallia was needed elsewhere.

Dakora: Anything we could potentially outsource like that, we should consider it.

MacKenzie: Put together a comprehensive list so I only have to make one ask. And make sure it’s robust – I’m sure she won’t be able to grant everything, but at least if we over-ask, we increase our chances of getting more of the things we actually need.

Salkath: Response

They’d discussed the extent of the damage, how long it may take, and managing their diminished crew. Talos looked to MacKenzie, trying to consider if there were any other important areas they’d need to consider.

Dakora: Right, well I think that about covers it. Captain, anything else you want to touch on?

MacKenzie’s face turned serious for a moment, her gaze directed at him even as she spoke to Salkath.

MacKenzie: I suppose we can’t expedite the remodel of the ready room…?

Talos deflated slightly, sinking back into his chair and resting the palm of his hand on his face for a moment before replying.

Salkath: Responses

Dakora: At your earliest convenience, Commander. ::He grimaced.:: Every time she thinks about that window, the risk of my untimely demise grows higher.

With that, the meeting seemed to be wrapping up and Talos pushed back from the table a bit.

MacKenzie/Salkath: Response

With no shortage of work ahead of him, Salkath made his way out of the Conference room and onto whatever his next priority was.

Talos hesitated for a moment, staying seated and looking at MacKenzie with a quizzical expression. While he was ordinarily a very organized person the chaos of the last several days had him more than a little out of sorts. He had a strange sensation that he was forgetting something.

Dakora: There was something else I wanted to mention…

He trailed off… trying to recall what it was he was, when what he had forgotten walked right through the conference room doors.

Talos had received Ensign Larek Tyron’s orders earlier that day and he had meant to apprise the Captain of the good news. He supposed now was as good a time as any.

Talos rose to greet the Napean Helm Officer with an outstretched hand.

Dakora: Ah, you must be Ensign Tyron, I’m Commander Talos Dakora, your First Officer, and ::He gestured to Addison.:: this is Captain MacKenzie,

Tyron: Response

MacKenzie: Response

He took the PADD containing the Ensign’s orders and handed it to Addison to peruse as he spoke.

Dakora: Ensign Tyron will be our new Helm Officer. ::He turned to Larek.:: Ordinarily, we’d be having this meeting in the Ready Room, but it was damaged during the Frontier Day crisis, so this will have to do. Have a seat.

Talos gestured to one of the chairs at the long table as he and MacKenzie took up positions on the opposite side.

Tyron: Response

MacKenzie: Response

Talos had the initial impression that the man was nervous– or maybe shy?-- possibly a combination of both. But then again who wasn’t a little nervous on the day of their first assignment?

Dakora: We’re glad to have you aboard, especially after our last pilot… ::He caught himself and chose a different tack.:: Well, We’re just glad to have you aboard.

It probably wasn’t a good idea to reveal that his predecessor had been killed by Borglings several days ago. It wasn’t the best first impression.

Tyron: Response

MacKenzie: Response
