Ensign Flint Kader - Course Correction

He was too distracted by his own thoughts and the lush scenery to notice that she probably noticed him first as he approached.

Kader: You know I heard the Berlin had a new pilot during the drill. Congratulations!

Lorana: Certainly not by choice. I was a little rusty. 

Kader: Well you can’t stop me from being impressed. Did you have any formal training?

Lorana: Actually I worked helm on a transport ship. Well on those types of ships you do everything at least once. At the academy, helm was my minor. 

Helm was her minor? He made some quick notes on his PADD as she was called away by a sound on her console. This was even better than he expected to hear. Perhaps with her on the helm it would be possible after all.

Lorana: Sorry, I'm doing a specialism in exobiology, and my professor is torturing me with a science based Kobayashi Maru. How do you keep all the life alive, when it's very nature is to destroy each other or itself? It's impossible. 

Kader: I’m glad no professor of mine ever asked me to play God. I actually wanted to talk to you about a race.

Lorana: Oh, the space race? Ensign Kuva mentioned something about this? :: Mockingly:: I was offended that you didn't ask me first? I thought I was the best friend you ever had, Kader? 

Even when he was not around, Kuva managed to catch Kader off-guard. 

Kader: Did he now? I don't suppose he also mentioned that I was saving the best for last then? ::deep breath:: How would you feel about being my pilot for the race?

Lorana: Response

Kader: Very few of my friends pounce on armed attackers so I definitely believe you have the disposition for it.

Lorana: Response

Kader: This is sort of a navigational challenge for me personally. A bit of time on the co-pilot's seat will do me good. Here, take a look at the course ::hands PADD::

Lorana: Response

Kader: Yeah well we’re going to need a shuttlecraft of some sort first. Kuva offered to help and I'm in the middle of some tests to see what kind of craft we need in order to finish the race. Chances are we’re gonna have to make do with very little.
