Captain Addison MacKenzie - The Squeeze is On

One of the newest members of the Artemis crew stood in front of Addison,
with Dakora just off to the side. The officer placed the PADD with his transfer
orders. She looked at the PADD, then up at Bergmen for a moment before she
finally picked up the device. She then pointed to Dakora.
MacKenzie: You start.
He gave her a single nod, and she looked over the assignment orders while he
started the inquisition.
Dakora: Welcome Aboard, Mister Bergmen. I’m Commander Talos Dakora,
the Artemis’ XO and this is Captain MacKenzie.
Her eyes were the only thing to briefly lift from the PADD.
Bergmen: Happy to be here, sir. Ma’am.
Addison set the PADD down with a nasty, metallic clink. The sound
instinctively caused her to give Dakora a momentary stink-eye, before she
redirected her attention to the new officer in front of her.
MacKenzie: So, Ensign, why are you interested in Ops?
Bergmen: Ma’am? I… ::hesitated, as if grappling for the right words::
OPS offers a variety of cross-ship opportunities. Over the years, I've gained
experience in ship logistics, shuttle operations, or Boatswain duties. I take
pride in efficiently completing paperwork and have a passion for it.
She sat back in her chair, clasped her hands and rested them in her lap. She
didn’t need to look directly at Talos to see his raised brow.
Dakora: Is that so? ::He crossed his arms across his chest and leaned
back into his chair.:: Our Ops officers tend to wear many hats…
It’s sort of a necessity for the job. How are you at multi-tasking?
Bergmen: If the nature of the task and the circumstances necessitate,
yes, I am proficient in multitasking, sir.
She nodded slowly.
MacKenzie: And so, you’ve been assigned to the Artemis. What do
you know of our assignment?
Bergmen/Dakora: Response
Well, so far, so good. He appeared to have done his homework.
MacKenzie: And what about the Borderlands? What do you anticipate will
be some of the more difficult aspects of your job, given the area of the galaxy
to which we’re assigned?
Bergmen/Dakora: Response
She traded a glance with her executive officer. The pair had done more than
their fair share of co-onboarding sessions together, this one proved no different
than most. Addison liked to see how new officers responded under a little
pressure… The commanding officer was known for having high standards, and
truthfully, any new crewmembers who couldn’t handle a Q&A with the captain
was in for a tough time when the squeeze was really on.
MacKenzie: Alright then, Mister Bergmen. Tell me a little about
yourself. The things that go beyond what I can find in your dossier.
