(( Intel Chief’s Office - Deck 08 - USS Artemis ))

Dakora: At ease, Mister Chevalier. Take a seat.

Talos settled into his seat on the other side of the desk.

Dakora: I imagine things have been busy for you, over in the Ops department in the wake of… everything.

Chevalier: Yes, sir. Coordination of ship's activities with different departments - such as a sickbay reconstruction with engineering or a coordination of computer system security check with the security – takes a lot of our resources and manpower. Honestly, sir, we needed to introduce the task triage for the resource assignment. But we'll get through it eventually.

With a knowing nod, Talos glanced down at the PADD in his hands before tapping a spot on the desk that lit up when he touched it and indicated that the session was now being recorded.

Dakora: Right, so let’s get right to it, then. ::He scrolled down on the PADD and read from the script..:: Describe the details and nature of your contact, if any, with the crew of the Desdemona prior to the attack on the Artemis.

Chevalier: So... to start we should start from the beginning. Shortly after Desdemona arrived, I was invited for the assessment and consultations regarding my Other and shortly a first assessment, we did some mechanical work on his cybernetics and health issues with your people and medical, when he came onboard. Following his recovery, I spent some time with him onboard, but we didn't see eye to eye that much. He was afik.. ehm, he lost his faith in our culture. So we split our ways and he returned onboard of Desdemona. ::shortly pause as he's thinking about other events:: And then yes, I met with the Other ensign Kader in OPS Center during the Desdemona crew's attempt to seize our vessel. But for most of that you were here too, so, I have nothing much more to add to that encounter.

Nodding. Talos scrolled down further. He eyed the pale, blonde Operations Officer opposite him with a look of understanding.

Dakora: Right. We now understand that the Kader we encountered in the Ops office just before the attack was actually Jonathan Kader, the Desdemona’s Nav Specialist. ::His brow furrowed.:: I, rather embarrassingly, failed to detect his deception as well.

Chevalier: We both failed to fully identify him as what he really was, sir. I had my own doubts, but at that time I made a mistake myself when I didn't crosscheck with a bio-readings of our Kader with our Kader's comm signature location. I'm sorry.

Talos set the PADD down on the table, having committed the remaining questions to memory.

Dakora: Detail your contact with the Desdemona crew after the attack on the Artemis had begun. ::He raised a finger.:: Including your thought process when you shot Colonel MacKenzie a second time, after her incapacitation.

Chevalier: So, after you left, I tried to better triangulate the position of my Other, and use the backdoor we installed into his source code. This should, at least in theory, help us with his localization, or, in better case, we should be able to disable him remotely. As I shortly after the initialization found, this dead-man switch of ours was disabled. For you to understand - based on the later investigation I conducted - my theory is... unfortunately, some of my own body parts we used during his reconstruction actually interfered with Artemis' computer as soon as Desdemona's crew hacked directly into Artemis' computer core.  In that moment, Artemis' computer tried to – ironically to say – make a BIOS update thinking he's me. This crashed his system and he basically rebooted from recovery, which was done before we installed our backdoor solution.
::took a deep breath::
After I found this fact and confirmed our solution is gone, I decided to leave OPS to find and interact with my Other directly to upload the virus, which would restore our backdoor solution and disabled him. I met with ensign Kawarda in the process. He decided to help me to secure access to the command processors. We did not meet nor interact with anyone until we found you and the other captain on deck 15. We decided with ensign Kawarda to make a full tactical entry to disturb the attention of Desdemonians and improve our general tactical situation at the location. I shot the other Captain to stun her, but as I got closer, I thought I saw her still moving, so in a split decision I decided to shoot her once more.

Dakora: Response

Chevalier: No, sir, as I said then – as soon as adrenaline cleared, and I tried to recollect this event, I cannot surely say if she moved or not. On other hand - as a man of certainties, I fully believe this medical examination confirming she did not, and the possibility that my mind was just clouded in that moment.

Jaseb's face played with different emotions as he looked somewhere between a beaten dog and ashamed over the fact he disappointed the men he worshiped.

Chevalier: On that matter, sir, I completed my phaser retraining course, as you can see in the system.

Jaseb smiled like a little child who came with their first drawing of the family. Full of hope, puppy eyes, hope it makes daddy Dakora proud.

Dakora: Response
