((Main Engineering, Mid Level — USS Artemis-A))

After replying to commander MacKenzie, Hallia found her hand rising to her commbadge again. It chirped as she made a softened tap against the device.

Yellir: =/\= Lieutenant Yellir to Ensigns Chevalier and Kuva, please report to deck fifteen. =/\=

Chevalier: =/\= Understood, lieutenant Yellir. I will be there in the next ten minutes if this is not urgent. =/\

Kuva: =/\= Response? =/\=

Yellir: =/\= ::chuckling:: Don’t worry, no one’s in trouble. We’ve been given a task by our Captain, and she referred both of you directly. =/\=

Chevalier: =/\= Aye, lieutenant. I will be on my way. =/\=

Kuva: =/\= Response? =/\=

As Hallia spoke, she got her own head start. The holographic emitter that sat at her station flared with a silvery blue light, and the form of the Artemis appeared in view. Several dots of gold light coalesced into small blips throughout the ship’s structure. Her eyes glanced over each one of them, before switching to an overview of the Desdemona.

While it didn’t reveal any crucial information, it flashed with those same motes of light, every so slightly moving as they conducted repairs.

Yellir: =/\= Then I shall see you both soon. Yellir out. =/\=

Chevalier: =/\= Chevalier out. =/\=

Kuva: =/\= Response? =/\=

Soon enough, she would need to make some more calls, but for now she put in a quick order to the transporter chief currently on duty— asking him to be on standby for her officers. She didn’t move from her station, flagging down officers instead to handle any non-immediate tasks. Hallia informed a very select few among her staff about the order from the Captain, worrying she herself was not enough to keep an eye on the entire ship.

But regardless, she eyed the Artemis like a vulture waiting for a limping deer to fall.

The Yelikan’s hands had very gingerly moved back and forth from system to system, and then documenting the ordeal on a nearby PADD. She had done what she could to keep her mind in the mundanity of a task such as this one, forcing it to stay in one place and keeping it from wandering too far off the beaten path. But, if something happened, and they really were under siege, what was she supposed to do? Would her own ideals of protecting this ship be overstepping MacKenzie’s orders?

So far, Hallia wasn’t armed, and Engineering was unguarded. It would be like cutting the head off a snake to lay siege to this very room, and the more her mind dwelled on the idea of that happening, the more the hairs on her neck sprung on end.

Hearing the alert of the ship blare was like hearing thunder whip across a cloudless sky. She instantly began moving around the enlarged schematics of the Artemis, quickly assuming the worst would happen. Shaky hands moved across the consoles as a flicker of blue light descended upon the doorway of Main Engineering before quickly fading. She did what she could to secure the warp core, trying to seal off every point of access and egress she could.

Chevalier: =/\= Ensign Chevalier to Lieutenant Yellir. =/\=

Hallia’s eyes didn’t once move away from her console, she sucked in a shaky breath before pushing herself to answer.

Yellir: =/\= Yellir here, report. =/\=

Chevalier: =/\= That fluctuation was dealt with, sending the data to You now. And one more thing. I received priority orders from Commander Dakora. I will arrive as soon as I complete his assignment. Twenty minutes top. =/\=

Yellir: =/\= Take your time Ensign, I’ve got it handled here. But keep your eyes open. =/\=

Chevalier: =/\= I will do the best I can, lieutenant. Chevalier out. =/\=

As much as she tried to force herself to breathe, Hallia could feel her heart in her throat. But part of her rested a little easier now as the lights seemed to resume their brightness, at least for the moment.

A.Dakora: Lieutenant Yellir?

Hallia raised a hand as if shooing away unwanted company.

Yellir: Commander Dakora, now really isn’t the ti—

She turned to face who she thought had approached her, only to feel her heart sink to a deepening pit in her stomach.

A.Dakora: Do exactly as I say and nobody has to get hurt, ok?

That wasn’t Commander Dakora.

He wore his face, but the way he looked at her, the way he spoke to her— his eyes narrowed as he looked at the Yelikan. This Dakora kept a phaser low but nevertheless pointed it right at her.

Hallia didn’t reply at first, only keeping her hands visible while doing everything she could to maintain some semblance of her composure.

A.Dakora: First, you’re going to take off your Comm badge and throw it on the ground– And Lieutenant, please don’t try anything. I’m not 100% sure this thing is set to stun.

Her eyes narrowed as she slowly reached for her commbadge and placed it on the ground. There was a thought that briefly ran through her mind, wondering if she had good enough aim to pelt it at the Betazoid, but she thought better of it. With her foot, she kicked it away into the centre of the room.

Yellir: Fire that weapon and you could get us both killed. Don’t be a fool.

The shake in her voice practically vanished as she hissed the friendly piece of advice his way. Her eyes instantly moved to the large coolant tanks that sat next to the warp core. She had heard tales of how organic material would turn to slop the instant the gas touched it.

A.Dakora: Response?

Yellir: What do you want with me?

A.Dakora: Response?

Yellir: And if I don’t? I have a hard time trusting you’re going to shoot me while I’m the one in charge.

A.Dakora: Response?
