((The Orbit of Rylor))
The Artemis’ reflection appeared distorted against the purple metallic hue of the Caitian ship as it glided into a complimentary orbital position above the planet of Rylor. The Gurata was an Aloska- class Caitian ship, renowned for it's beauty and elegance. The familiar Caitian starship design was present, and eye catching as ever.
From an angular window, a group of Caitians stood.

Luxa’s tail swayed above her head, and indicator of both joy and trepidation. She remembered all too clearly the first time she had seen the USS Artemis-A and had met then Commander MacKenzie. Luxa had been present for her promotion to Captain but had sadly missed seeing her make Fleet Captain.
The inner ensign within her felt a twist of the stomach and a foreboding sense of dread at the prospect of meeting MacKenzie again. Had she lived up to her potential?
This prompted the Caitian woman to look at her outfit. Not a Starfleet uniform. Not anymore. She was a diplomat now. After she was afflicted by the genetic destabilisation disease caused by the infusion of Sencha radiation with Soliton particles she had spent the last year on Cait. Trapped in the chair, researching her own affliction in a desperate search for a cure, she had utilised the facilities of the Caitian Division of Scientific Research, Exploration and Development (D-SRED). Eventually recruited and behaving as a liaison between the scientific community, the political class and Starfleet due to increasing political unrest within some circles of Caitian society.
Essentially, the Caitians felt neglected and left out. True the scientific department was largely underserved, under resourced and therefore disregarded by most Federation establishments. A fact that did not strike Luxa with any pleasure, being a scientist herself. The Federation Diplomatic Corps recruited her as an envoy to the Caitian people, specifically in the interests of scientific pursuits.
She was no longer a Starfleet scientist, but somehow a Caitian diplomatic envoy (to her mother's pleasure) and somehow a renowned scientist. Her work in genetic destabilisation had furthered her reputation and … provided Luxa with a spotlight that she was increasingly uncomfortable with.
It was also the reason that she had travelled to this region.
Oli: :: slightly confused :: You served on that ship? :: arrogant :: As an ensign?
Luxa looked to her white furred assistant, his large grey blue eyes fixed on the Starfleet ship. Oli had never been off-world before, a rarity. As was he, pure white furred Caitians were virtually unheard of that entire myths had formed around them. Most of it was considered a little prejudice and outdated by this point. To judge another on the colour or marking of their fur was seen as bigoted and well … feral. Something that any respectable, cultured Caitian would do their best to avoid.
Lorana: She's really beautiful, isn't she?
Oli: :: unconvinced :: Well :: reluctant :: I prefer a Caitian ship. Those nacelles don't look very safe? Did you know that 60% of Starfleet vessels need an entire refit before their first five year mission is complete? That's not a statistic that fills me with any amount of pleasure, Envoy Lorana.
Lorana: :: rolls her eye :: We'll need to do something about that.
Oli's ears perked up.
Oli: About what? :: hopeful :: Will I ask Captain Tress to set a course for Cait?
Lorana: :: shakes her head :: Your sense of adventure. You've been hanging around too many Caitians. The universe is full of mystery and intrigue. You'll see, Oli.
She flicked her tail in Oli’s direction.
Lorana: Anyway, I have an old captain to meet.

Luxa had chosen her clothing carefully. She wore a mint green, tight fitted dress, a slit at either side to allow room for her legs. Her thick silver mane had been styled glamorously and cascaded around her shoulders and down her back. She felt it would convey a stylish and elegant persona and a small part of her wanted MacKenzie to like it.
Would you ever not seek the approval of your first CO? Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the distinctive red hair of her first captain.
Lorana: Captain?
MacKenzie: Response
Lorana: Its nice to see you. As you can see, I don't wear the uniform anymore, I temporarily took leave of my commission. Long and traumatic story that I won't bore you with. I'm here in my capacity as a diplomatic envoy and my role with the Caitian Division of Research, Exploration and Development. I received a communiqué from your medical department. Do you have some genetic mutations?
MacKenzie: Response
((OOC: apologies for the exposition but I had to explain the kitty's absence and do a lot of groundwork in one sim.
This is the precursor to the medical mini mission, where Luxa will be consulting as a scientific expert in genetic transformations))
