((Main Mess Hall, Deck 03, USS Artemis))
The main mess hall is more utilitarian in its design than the ship’s lounge on deck 05. The lounge is intended for, among others, afterwork relaxation, gatherings, and celebrations, while the mess hall is a place to come and eat one’s daily meals. That being said, socializing with the others is not an effect but the cause of eating here instead of the relative privacy of eating by a food replicator in one’s quarters.
Jovenan carried her tray past several tables, passing several officers and crewmembers she didn’t personally know that well, engaged in chatter. Eventually, she spotted some familiar faces and altered her course to their table. Surprising the gaggle of junior officers from behind, she greeted them.
Jovenan: Ensigns, so nice to see you again! May I join you?
Any ensigns: Response
She placed her tray onto the table and sat on the chair. Briefly sharing a smile with each of them, she picked up a fork and impaled the poor salad leaves on her plate.
Jovenan: So, do you have any shore leave ideas? Planning to go exploring the planet or staying on the ship?
Any ensigns: Response
Jovenan kept nodding as each of them spoke. There were multiple ways to spend the brief vacation they had between missions, even to the point it was difficult to choose which want to choose. On the other hand, she knew that sometimes approaching other officers for shared activities could be intimidating.
Jovenan: Actually, I do have an idea, if you’re interested. I was reading the database on Meranuge IV, and there’s a place called La’kso canyon in the northern hemisphere. It runs through a spot that has rich deposit of kelbonite and some luminescent minerals. Kelbonite blocks transporters, so it would be necessary to walk through it to see the best spots from ground. I’ve heard it’s a geologically unique formation, not to mention a beautiful place.
Any ensigns: Response
There was a reason Jovenan was talking about all this. She wanted to go there; she was a planetary scientist after all. However, her field skills were in need of improvement and the trip might have been too dangerous to go on alone. But she also was too nervous to approach the senior staff on the matter.
Jovenan: So, anyone interested on a little camping trip? We would need to walk quite a distance to get to the other side of the deposits and camp a night there. I think it could be exciting!
Any ensigns: Response
((OOC: I didn’t want to name anyone specifically in case you didn’t want taking part in this, but our newest ensigns in particular, consider yourselves implied! There would be walking, magnificent sights, campfire talks, maybe some action! I hope some of you joins the fun, but it’s okay if you don’t.))
