((Interior, Bridge, Unknown ship))

Pressing in they came to several consoles. Artinus sat down at one and studied it before looking up to the viewscreen showing Deep Space Thirty Three in the distance. The station would be able to see them, unless this vessel happened to be cloaked.

Serinus:Seems to be a repurposed civilian vessel. We must be cloaked or something. Can you drop those?

The Bolian went straight to work, and Artinus was glad that someone had some familiarity with Romulan systems.

Zenno: I believe I can manage that. This is a repurposed commercial design panel that seems to be running it. ::beep, bop, BLOOP::

They were being hailed, Artinus stood and gazed stoically at the viewscreen.

Serinus: Excellent. On screen.

In front of them was a human-looking woman with fire red hair in a ponytail, wearing a gold uniform with two solid pips.

DS33 Ops: =/\= Unidentified, uncloaking, Freighter, please identify yourself. =/\=

He spoke up cooly, and with authority.

Serinus: =/\= This is Lieutenant Commander Artinus Serinus, Security Chief, USS Arrow. Myself, as well as Ensign Zenno, and your Lieutenant T'Lyra were abducted by the crew of this vessel. Be advised, the Lieutenant T'Lyra aboard the station is an imposter, and we have reason to believe that the rest of the Security team is compromised as well.=/\=

DS33 Ops: =/\= Do you have anything to verify this information, Commander?=/\=

If anyone could verify his identity, it would be his Captain.

Serinus: =/\= Can you patch in Captain Shayne?=/\=

DS33 Ops: =/\= One second Commander.::There was a several second pause, that dragged on.:: Captain Shayne is not answering, do you have an alternative? =/\=

Serinus: =/\= Try Arrow Intel Chief MacKenna, or your Commander Stergis=/\=

DS33 Ops: =/\= One second. ::There was another all too long pause, but finally the person on the other line spoke again,:: Commanders, you are on the line with someone claiming to be Lieutenant Commander Serinus. =/\=

Stergis: =/\= Responses =/\=

MacKenna: =/\= Un ood=/\=

Something must be interfering with the coms aboard.

Serinus: =/\= We've been abducted, as well as the real Lieutenant T'Lyra. Repeat, the Lieutenant T'Lyra on board is an imposter, and the rest of the Security team may also be compromised,=/\=

MacKenna:: =/\= Unde…d =/\=

Stergis: =/\Response=/\=

Zenno: =/\= Our opponents appear to be using Tri-Phasic scanners to create holographic disguises, using live beings as a model. It’s also possible to clone the models and have them perform pre-programmed tasks. Beware of imposters. We have some intelligence that there may be a plot against the Ambassadors. =/\= oO This tech is amazing. I can’t wait to take this thing apart. I’m glad I grabbed one. Oo

Serinus: =/\= They took our combadges, but T'Lyra has hers. =/\=

MacKenna: =/\= I can't ma… out .uch of …. you are saying, but if you …, I'm close to an… =/\=

Stergis: =/\= Response =/\=

Zenno: I believe we have maneuvering thrusters. I can attempt a docking.

Kismarq: No! ::sob:: The station is rigged. :: cries:: We must go far away. Pleeaassseee! ::sniffles::

He seemed to know a whole lot for a courier, it wasn't really good business practice for his employer. Artinus was unafraid at least for himself, he worried about all of the people on the station, and the galactic-political implications of the peace conference being blown up.

Serinus: I have friends on that station, Yridian. I'm not letting a war start on my watch. Mr. Zenno try to locate the explosives.

Zenno: With all the cloaking tech and interference, it’s not possible, sir. I can’t get enough detailed resolution on these sensors.

There had to be a way to boost the sensor strength.

Serinus: We'll have to consider pulling power from elsewhere.

T’Lyra: Gentlemen, if we link into the station and our sensors through my security code, we might be able to access the internal station sensors and have enough resolution to locate any kinetic devices, now that we know what we know the target of our search.

Zenno: I concur. I can make that interlink.

Artinus nodded toward the Bolian, this could work.

Kismarq: ::various and sundry sniveling::

T’Lyra: My security code is Sehlat-7-6-Plomeek-12-Tasmeen.

Zenno leaned forward in his chair, eager to enter the data, but his insides complained vociferously. Biting down, he proceeded. "I will have to get that looked at, eventually. If I survive," he thought.

Zenno: I have the link established!

Serinus: Begin the scan and then pull us back a few kilometers.

Zenno nodded his acknowledgement and began to run the scans. Assuming competence on the part of their opponents, he began his scans in the Engineering section. But there was nothing to find. Surprising. Scanning in sections, he moved through the decks, prioritizing the likely locations based on their potential to destroy the station. "Where the heck are you?", he thought as he recalibrated again.

He looked over his shoulder to see the Commander expectantly sitting in a chair. Feeling the pressure mounting, he refocused on the screens. Then a result came up and he murmured to himself, "Blessed Water..."

Zenno: Target Acquired. The Promenade. Looks to be a modified quantum device.

The Bolian turned to face the Commander, and he saw Serinus' jaw clench. But before he could speak, T'Lyra responded.

T'Lyra: We could lock onto it, and beam it out into uninhabited space.

Zenno: That appears to be possible, sir. If this ship's equipment is calibrated correctly.

Serinus: Risks?

T'Lyra: If it is motion activated, or it gets jostled, it could detonate regardless.

Zenno: One thing I can tell for certain. It is not shielded. I don't see any motion sensors, but they might still be there but of an unknown design. A safer option might be to clear the area if we can get comms sorted, then beam over this hand disrupter on an overload setting. The device would be safely destroyed. Or I could beam over and destroy it with the disrupter on a maximum setting. So we have three options, sir.

T'Lyra: It would be illogical to send the Bolian. I am the most familiar with the station. I will go if that is the method you select, Commander.

Zenno: With comms still unreliable, it may be a challenge to get the area cleared. So there are two leading choices Commander. But I disagree with the Lieutenant. I am the logical choice if you choose to send someone. I am very familiar with Romulan technology and if this device is one of theirs, I will know best how to destroy it. Plus I am the junior officer present. The duty undoubtedly falls to me in this scenario. oO You are him. You are the idiotic Ensign that gets killed on his first mission. Lt Nardello was right about everything. Oo

If the Vulcan suffered any distress from being called on her logic, it was not apparent. But Zenno felt, or perhaps imagined, a momentary side eye. oO If I have insulted my colleague, even accidentally, I would find the explosive danger on the station preferable. If I survive, I will endeavor to make amends. Oo

The two officers awaited orders.

Serinus: Response?

As the Commander started to speak, Zenno winced as his ribs reminded him that they were not in perfect working order today. "Ugh, this hurts worse than that time my sister shot me with that basic phaser she made in Dad's lab," he thought. "Strange that I would remember that right now." The feedback from the phaser had melted the leads into the resonance chamber, fusing the whole thing. Rekko had only one shot with that contraption and she wasted it on him. Father was... most distressed. Not that she had made a weapon without permission, not that she had shot her Brother with it, but that she had not made a better unit. "Feedback on the collimators was a consequence you should have foreseen, Rekko," he had said, right before giving her an extra science lesson while Zenno had been assigned to clean up the lab, even with his side still in pain from the phaser burn. "That's it!", he realized!

Zenno: [Blurting out suddenly] Collimator feedback!

The Commander stopped mid-sentence and turned to face his junior officer with a mix of what looked like annoyance at being interrupted and the other part probably wondering about this new Bolian's sanity. T'Lyra said nothing but turned slightly toward Zenno and raised her eyebrow in that Vulcan way which meant some version of "You are being most disagreeable."

Serinus: Response?

Zenno: What I mean sir, is that another solution has occurred to me. Tri-phasic designs use collimators to focus their emissions and these ones we have seen are networked in a matrix structure. I took one from the Medical Theater and I think we can use it to send enough feedback through the system to fuse them all. The explosive device isn't shielded, but it is using the cloaked tri-phasic network and this would fuse all of its workings instantly. No risk from motion sensors or anything! oO If I live, I will never speak of this to Rekko. She'd never let me forget that her shooting me with a homemade phaser as kids gave me an idea. Oo

T'Lyra: This approach is reasonable. Much more logical than some of the other options.

"Was that snark from the Vulcan? The way she said 'logical' sounded like a dig at me," Zenno thought. "She must be 'Vulcan mad' at me. The kind where they are annoyed and never admit it but get even more haughty." Zenno had seen that before from Saava, one of the Vulcans in his Academy study group Junior year.

Serinus: Response?

Kismarq: Very dangerous! Let me go! ::More sniveling::

Zenno: Aye! ::Working the console and attaching leads from the Tri-Phasic scanner to the panel:: Ready to go!

Serinus: Response?

The Bolian pressed the button and a whine that came from the device was astonishingly loud, and then it flashed a blue-white light briefly and then all was silent.

The Officers looked at each other briefly, just enough to make sure that they hadn't suddenly been ejected into some sort of afterlife and were still where they expected themselves to be. Before anyone else could speak the comms chirped and the viewscreen came alive with the same red-haired officer from before.

DS33 Ops: =/\= What is going on over there? We saw a massive energy spike from your ship, comms have cleared up and several officers just disappeared! =/\=

Serinus: Response?
