Capt. Shayne: Order of Operations

This was not a conversation he was looking forward to. 

He’d needed his officers in ways few captains ever had before. Despite his filled career, he was simply not up to snuff when he’d taken command, and it had cost him. It didn’t help that senior officers had been forced to bail early on, robbing him of much of the command experience he’d been counting on. Over time, though, he felt that he’d forged (with great help) a solid staff. 

It was rare that the impression was rocked so. 

The door chimed. 

Shayne let the moment drag on for a second, then two, then three… 

He steeled himself, kept his eyes cold easily, and stared forward. 

Shayne: Enter. 

The terseness, the sharpness… whoever he’d summoned was on the captain’s naughty list. 

The doors slid open, slid closed, and Lieutenant Commander Maz Rodan stood amiably before the taut-lipped captain. 

Rodan: Response

Shayne looked him over briefly, and asked his next question with both a dangerous tone, and genuine concern. 

Shayne: Are you alright? 

Apart from the fact that he didn’t want harm to come to his first officer, he preferred his victims to be healthy before he ripped into them. 

Rodan: Response 

Shayne nodded- he was standing there, large as life, but there were other considerations he might not be able to see, which was why he didn’t assume. 

Shayne: Am I to understand that you punched a prisoner? 

Rodan: Response
