R'Ariel: I remember an awful excruciating bad taste.
Trying to lighten the mood, she stuck out her tongue, and mimicked a yucky behavior. Which drew a tight laugh from Quentin.
Collins: Bajoran cabbage they were not. But that's life in Starfleet, right? Middling to bad food and hostile work environments.
R'Ariel: More unagreeable than Bajoran cabbage on an upside-down planet with an attitude, it's quite the profession we have going on here.
She rested her head in her hands, a smirk on her face, as she leaned forward listening to him speak.
Collins: It's better than what I would have been doing on Earth, that's for sure. I feel like I've mentioned this before, but my mother wanted me to be a teacher.
R'Ariel: It does seem like she had a very different future envision for you than this.
Collins: Honestly, I think I would have been driven to madness. Cooped up in a lecture hall all day. Dealing with students. AND other teachers? Bleh, no, thank you.
R'Ariel: I hope you don't mind my saying so, but I'd say you turned out to be a very good teacher. I know I've learned a lot, and from what I've heard, under your tutelage, your department is constantly learning, and growing.
She ended her statements with her usual smile. The tip of her tail flicked gently back and forth at her side.
Collins: No, that's a fair point actually. The other junior officers and enlisted Science Staff. I suppose they are like students in a way. I just...always try to make sure we are always on an equal footing with one another. I would...hate for any of them to think me superior to them. Not that I think I'm superior to anyone! It's just...man, it didn't take long for me to make this awkward, huh?
R'Ariel: I wish every crew in every ship in the fleet could have the benefit of your leadership, friendship and observe your modesty in it all.
She looked about, as if something was missing.
R'Ariel: Can I get you anything, something to drink perhaps? You know I like to serve more than just ideas and possible solutions here. You have but to ask, and I will do my best.
