((Unknown Vessel - “Hulk” - Cargo Deck))

The Ferengi shuttle had docked, haphazardly, to the creaking hulk of the massive mystery vessel. It had not been the most efficient flying, the piloting sensors seemed to have been refracted at points, so the pilot had had to manually dock.

Ferengi Second Officer Bregg stepped out into the cargo deck and immediately wrinkled his large nose in disgust. Ferenginar was known for its rather robust fragrances - especially in the monsoon season - but this stink was fearsome. Dank and rotting. He brought his hand up to his flared nose and wafted some air around to try and rid himself of the odor.

Bregg: ::Exclaiming in disgust.:: What is that stench!?

One of his men, who’d flanked him off the shuttle, ran his hand across the closest bulkhead. Some kind of soft moss had begun growing there. Testament to the age of the vessel. He grimaced and wiped the substance on his trouser leg.

Bregg: Keep your lobes open, boys. There’s treasure on this old ship, and the boss will pay a pretty penny for it.

The small team began fanning out among the large crates of cargo.

There was a reason this ship was so far out into deep space. Sensor refracting shields, nigh on impenetrable hull plating. Oh there was treasure here. He could smell it - despite the rotten stench - in the air.

Bregg resisted the urge to rub his hands together in glee.

Small shrubs and strange looking plants had started to grow in the nooks and crannies of the ship. No one had walked these decks for some time. Years probably. And now nature - or some weird form of it - had started to take over.

Bregg kicked at a small plant in disgust.

Bregg: Disgusting. This place is absolutely filthy. No lobes for business. A clean establishment is a profitable one!

Ferengi: Good one, boss! You should petition for that to be an official Rule.

Bregg: Shut up and get back to work.

The stout Ferengi unholstered his phaser and aimed it squarely at a cargo container. The resulting blast of orange light and piercing sound made short work of the mag-lock on it, which fell to the ground with an heavy CLUNK! Quickly he opened the crate and marveled inside.

Bregg: My, my. What have we here…?

One man's junk was another man’s treasure. That was an old Hu-mon saying which he had rather liked.

Suddenly a loud, guttural, almost ungodly roar echoed from the pit of the “hulk”. Its sound resonated along the ancient corridors; bounced off the bulkheads now covered in that strange, sticky moss, and bellowed into the cargo deck.

The roar rumbled the deck plating so much Bregg’s knees were still shaking moments after the sound dissipated. Then he realised it was fear keeping his legs shaking. Fear. Something was with them on this vessel. And it didn’t sound happy…
