Captain Oddas Aria: Elevated Responsibilities

As much as she disliked the outdoors, Aria was pleased to find the weather mild, not oppressively hot like she tended to associate with the beach.  It was a fine setting to see her former XO come into his own, doling out his own approvals, commendations, and promotions.  The familiar faces added a sense of pride.

Shayne: In addition, I am pleased to award the entire crew the Scientific Discovery Ribbon. And finally, to conclude these proceedings, a special visit and announcement from Captain Oddas Aria of the Starship Juneau.
 
Her cue given she approached the podium and fought her own inner pah-wraith known as 'public speaking'.  The Bajoran set the single wooden box and PADD down on the podium.  Aria had reviewed her remarks the entire ride from the Spike to Risa and felt she knew them as best she could.  She glanced at them again, then looked out at the Apollo crew - familiar and unfamiliar crew at once.
 
Oddas: Crew of the Apollo, congratulations again on all of your accomplishments - your actions speak well to your ship, your commanding officer, and to Starfleet at large.  I know Commander Shayne feels tremendous pride in your work, and as the Captain who takes some measure of responsibility for the Commander, thank you for making us all look good.

She paused for the crew to make their applause.

Oddas: Unfortunately, today that comes to a change with new orders from Starfleet. ::pause:: Due to his work with the Arrow, taking on the challenges of the region, the disposition of the crew and the ship, and performing his duties extraordinarily well, Starfleet Command has decided it is time for Mister Shayne to assume more responsibilities.  Mister Shayne if you please?

She gestured for the Commander, former XO, former Chief Engineer to come to rest next to her.

Oddas: Mister Shayne, for your outstanding performance in Command of the USS Arrow, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Captain with all rights, privileges, and responsibilities afforded to you.  ::she paused and then smiled:: And may the Prophets help you.

Reaching out her hand to shake it, cuffing him on the shoulder as she did so.

Oddas: Congratulations Captain, you deserve it.

Shayne: Response

Aria turned to crowd and began clapping enthusiastically along with the Apollo crew, happy she had gotten through her bout of public speaking for her friend, immensely proud and happy.
