Ensign O'Malley was good and gone, when he started to speak again.

Serinus: I hope they've come up on another lead. ::break:: I still haven't ruled out Commander Wilde, of course.  I am not letting my own complicated relationship with her brother cloud my judgement positively, or negatively.

Who was he trying to convince, the Marine, or himself?

Jones: Would never think you would.

It was better to get in out in the open anyway. And just maybe, it was better to verbal remind himself to stay partial. The possibility was still real enough, where he felt like he would need to qualify the statement further.

Serinus: We must be prepared mentally for every possible scenario.

Jones: Indeed. It prevents us from being caught too long in things we don't have time to reasonably think through.

Serinus: When Reagan was with us, the command team and our NCOs made detailed assault, counter-assault, and defense plans for each common area on the Arrow.

Jones: Planning makes the difference. This I know.

Serinus: Thorough, is my middle name.  So to speak.

The seasoned veteran smiled at him.

Jones: Doesn't surprise me. ::Beat.:: So what now?

Most all of the data they could collect had been, or was in the process of being collected already. The main task before them now, was parsing that data out.

Serinus: We keep combing through these dossiers, keeping in mind all of the new information we have gathered.

Jones nodded his way.

Jones: We can split the stack and get through it twice as fast.

Serinus: I've finished nearly a third already. Perhaps it would be more efficient for you to get another set of eyes on those, and I'll keep passing them your way when I finish.

After CWO Jones had moved his chair in closer, Artinus handed him the several PADDs.

Serinus: You'll notice that I've started by reviewing the visiting Proteus team first. Is that Blacknet, Chief?

Jones: Sometimes you can find things hidden in insignificant chatter. It could be helpful.

He nodded slowly, as to signal interest.

Serinus: That sounds like my understanding of how covert ops work, but I'd certainly like to hear your take on these things.

rJones: Any large operation leaves a footprint somewhere. Just gotta find it...
,
Serinus: That reminds me of when my father taught me to track game.

Jones: Response

Artinus half-grinned.

Serinus: Oh, not hunting in that manner. We were of a social class that rarely handled such things for themselves. My people have a long way to catching up with the Federation values, but we are making progress here and there.

He gave a shrug at that. What change could one man half a galaxy away effect on his home planet? Either way, he was getting off topic.
Artinus rarely talked about his personal life with peers, let alone lower ranking personnel.

Serinus: But doubtless to say, it's proven to be a useful skill now and again. But I digress. You were saying, Chief?

Jones: Response

Serinus: Right. Patterns.

Jones: Response
