((Yunamax Hotel, New Talax))
::Starfleet? The Talaxian government had praised them constantly since work on the Outpost began. Flixic couldn’t tell if it was bringing them more custom - or robbing them of it. The Yunamax hotel was always fully booked and right now she had a big problem. There had been a murder in one of the rooms. People were cancelling left and right. Others were hounding her for details or about security arrangements for their own stay. This incident, the only one of it’s kind had severely tarnished the hotel’s reputation. As owner, Flixic took that highly personally.::
::Worse, Starfleet had taken over a function room and saw fit to detain her for questioning. Reluctantly, she had agreed.::
Flixic: oO This had better be quick. Oo
::Truth be told she had her doubts about this whole Numiri/Talaxian conference. She didn’t think their species could work together for mutual betterment. In short, she didn’t trust the Numiri. She would be quite happy to see them fail. She had not anticipated things would pan out as they had. And now Starfleet was here meddling? Surely this was a Talaxian matter to resolve since they were on Talaxian territory.::
::Staff had resigned and of those who were left, she had ordered them that it was to be business as normal. She had even paid for a band to play soothing music, at great expense, in an effort to calm some frayed nerves and reassure customers that everything was under control.::
::Into her small office an oversized group of officers entered. Now she felt rather claustrophobic. Her teeth ground together as the officers looked around. Was it the plants that captivated them so? Just what did they hope to find here? Putting on a strained smile, she pressed them to business.::
Flixic: I understand your time is short. You probably have many people you need to talk to, so hw is it that I can help you today?
Fairhug: Pardon the intrusion, as we discussed, the Apollo has been charged with investigating the untimely death of Mr. Garan Graq. I assure you, we won't take up any more of your time than is necessary.
Flixic: Much appreciated. We still have over 100 guests and visitors to caer to today alone and we’re very short handed as a result of this incident.
Malko: We have reason to believe there was an unwanted entry into Mr. Graq's room. Surely you would want to know of any weakness in your hotel's security?
::Her teeth ground together again as he bellowed unnecessarily loudly at her. If they meant to test her patience they were succeeding.::
Flixic: My hearing is not imparied, so there’s no need to yell. Unless you’re intentionally trying to be disruptive of course, but I’m sure we’re all working towards the same goal and want to get to the bottom of what happened to poor Mr Graq.
Adler: Well, I'm sure the quicker we find what we're all looking for, the sooner business can proceed as usual, and future guests will see you as the hotel manager who stands firmly on the side of their well being under your roof.
::Flixic found herself warming to this one a little. He seemed to appreciate a bit more than perhaps the others did that as horrible as all this was, she still had responsibilities to attend to. Even with the bookings drying up faster than the Orogon river in the height of summer, the hotel would still stand to make a substantial profit today. But only if they could satisfy the incredibly high standards of high profile guests who were paying for the most luxurious - and expensive - accomodation on New Talax.::
Flixic: As you say. ::She patted a thick, square device on her desk:: Copies of all our security footage. I’ve already reviewed it myself and have taken the liberty of providing some notes about suspicious comings and goings. Camera 13 is the closest one of Mr Graq’s room, and it monitors the whole stretch of corridors those rooms are on. Is there anything else?
Malko: Just a few questions so we can establish a timeline and clear any innocent parties. Who was on staff last night? And, what was their last interaction with Mr. Graq?
Flixic: Of course I want to help you but I am confused and concerned? Do you seriously suspect we are to blame? Our recruitment standards and background checking is most rigorous owing to the high profile guests we serve.
Malko: Thank you. We have no reason to suspect your employee's involvement in this matter - and their cooperation will help keep it that way.
Flixic: There were over 50 staff on duty last night alone. I cannot recall off the top of my head who was all working. Nor can I tell you what interaction they had with the man.
::She paused to consider the list of items she had prepared in advance having made educated guesses about the types of information that might be useful.::
Adler: Or do you have a record through the staff of Mr. Graq's most recent activity - diplomatic or otherwise - and who else may have been with him at the time? A hotel like this tends to keep excellent records, and witnesses could be butlers, waiters, room service, cleaners … Anyone, really.
Flixic: I do have the staff schedule for last night, the logs of all clock ins and clock outs. Mr Graq ordered room service last night, so I can provide you with the names of staff involved in providing that service to him as well.
Adler: Thank you, ma'am.
Malko: Response
Flixic: Anything else? ::She was polite, but not particularly warm or friendly::
Fairhug: Thank you, ma'am, you've been most helpful. I hope you don't mind if we continue our investigation?
Flixic: Please do. The sooner this matter is concluded, the better.
Fairhug: Thank you, again. We'll try to stay out of the way.
::The group took their leave. She had thought they might ask her more questions, or maybe try to trip her up. Perhaps they would be back later with more questions, or other demands. Certainly she would do what she could to comply with their requests. It wouldn’t do to even be suspected of being obstructive about this. The hotels future and reputation was what mattered. She cared little for the dead Numiri. If someone’s blood was going to be spilled she’d rather it be theirs than Talaxian. Perhaps it would have been better had he been murdered elsewhere.::
