((Back Simm)) Ensign Davine D'fini - Meet and greeting

::Davine had just approached a new member of the crew. Of course without uniforms it was impossible to gauge what their task was aboard the ship. For  all her knowledge, the woman was federation under secretary to the department of tribbles. Or at least that was what Davine was hoping. She hadn't had the pleasure of meeting a tribble yet.  She did think the woman's species was certainly interesting.::

 D'fini: Hello there.::Trying not to startle her.::

 Sh'zatrahr: Oh. ::Her antenna stood straight up.:: Hello.

::Davine offered her hand. She liked the Terran greeting and used it quite often, however she wasn't sure if this was correct or not for her  interesting species which was at least Andorian in part Davine guessed.::

D'fini: Ensign Davine D'fini. Science Department.:: Trying to salvage the introduction.::

 Sh'zatrahr: Ensign Wiar Sh'zatrahr... Engineer.

D'fini: I was just walking aimlessly. ::Giving a little shrug of her shoulders.::I thought you looked interesting. I know it's stupid to judge anyone on appearance, but you have start someplace. Next you know I will be greeting people on their footwear.::Smiling. Trying to disarm her and herself.::

Sh'zatrahr: I was just... ::Her mother's encouraging words echoed in her head.:: Would you like to have a drink with me?

D'fini: Well it has to be better that the too sweet thing I just had.::Glancing at the drink on the table, then back at the young woman..:: I think just water would be fine. ::Changing the direction of the conversation so weather wasn't the next topic to cover.:: Funny I can never tell who someone is out of uniform. ::Smiling.::

Sh'zatrahr: Response

::The woman seemed to settle down a bit, or perhaps it was just her imagination or D'fini was relaxing a bit.::

D'fini: I don't know.  These parties are fun, but I guess small talk takes the edge off the more pointed topics. Most situations in moderation as my mom always said.
