((Time Index: 2 days after Theo's promotion))

::Jarred leaned back into the chair. Officially he’d been the executive officer for two days, but his work has started several days ago when he’d first been offered the position. At the time it had seemed like a good idea. It was after all a promotion, with better perks such as a larger office and more spacious quarters. He hadn’t realised how much work and responsibility the role would entail. There was always a report to sign off on, or a crew issue to resolve. But as he sat in the centre chair and stared out of the main viewer at the vast expanse beyond it felt worth it. He wouldn’t change a thing.::

::Basking in contentment, it came as a surprise when the newly promoted captain’s voice came over the comm.::

Whittaker: =/\=Commander Thoran- could you step in to my ready room a moment, please?=/\=

Thoran: =/\= On my way Captain.=/\=

::He rose from the chair, signalling to the officer at the helm that they had the bridge, as Jarred strode the few paces it took to reach the turbo lift that would take him to the captain’s ready room.::

Whittaker: ::he indicated to the chair opposite his::: I think you had better sit down for this, Jarred. This is.... quite something.

::Jarred’s expressed turned to one of concern, his eyebrows raised as he settled himself into the offered seat.::

Thoran: Good something, or bad something?

Whittaker: Well that depends on how you look at it, Number One. There really is no easy way to say this So I may as well come out and say it: we are being reassigned. ::despite himself, he smiled.:: To The Columbia.

::His expression changed, his eyes widening at the news, a mixture of surprise and shock. The Columbia had arrived in the region several months ago, but had spent the last couple of months undergoing a refit. From what he knew of the ship it was capable enough, able to give a greater punch the Blackwell.::

Thoran: I see. Just us, or the whole crew?

Whittaker: ?

::A sense of relief washed over him, glad to hear that the senior staff and a large portion of the crew were coming with them. Good crew were hard to find after all, and so far the Blackwell had managed to luck out, comprised of what he considered some of the finest officers in Starfleet.::

Thoran: Well that’s good to hear. Do you know when the transfer is due to take place?

Whittaker: ?

::Hurry up and wait. A idiom often used to describe the normal operating procedures of Starfleet Command. Frequently Jarred would find himself rushed to complete something, or hurried somewhere, only to be halted before moving to the next stage.::

Thoran: So soon? Well, can’t say I won’t miss the Blackwell. But I suppose that is the requirement of the service so we must heed the call.

Whittaker: ?

Thoran: If there is nothing else Captain, it seems like i’m going to have a lot of paperwork coming my way and i’d like to get a head start on it.

Whittaker: ?

::Jarred nodded to the captain as he rose from the seat. As he stepped out of the ready room back onto the bridge, his mind was awash with thoughts. For nearly eighteen months he’d roamed the corridors of the Blackwell and now it was coming to an end. It was a strange feeling, reaching the end of a milestone. He glanced around the familiar bridge, taking the sights and sounds. It had been a ship of many memories.::
