((DS26, Holosuite 1 - Saden's Fashionably Late Party Entrance))  

::Saden felt positive energy coming from Theo. It made him wonder why he never bothered applying to Starfleet before; a work ethic like his is what they seem to look for.::

Whittaker: Ah yes! It might be worth you meeting Doctor G’Renn first since she will be your immediate superior officer as the Blackwell’s Chief Medical Officer. ::he smiled as he scanned the attendees for Doctor G’Renn in her brilliant white dress uniform. He found her talking to Captain Brell almost immediately.:: Come, follow me ensign.

Lor: Sure thing.

::He nodded, smiled in return, and followed Whittaker. All the social action was lifting up his emotions, helping him focus away from his fear of being on the holodeck. The two approached a Klingon-Vulcan woman congratulating a Bolian on his promotion.::

G’Renn: I’m sorry that I didn’t get a chance to say hello during your promotion party. However, you were quite busy at the time.

Brell: ?

G’Renn: Well, congratulations nonetheless! The promotion was well-deserved. ::She placed extra emphasis on the last word:: Captain.

Brell: ?

::Saden noticed Theo gave the two time to finish their conversation then began to speak.::

Whittaker: Pardon the interruption, Doctor G’Renn- I’d like you to meet somebody. ::he turned to Lor.:: This is Ensign Saden Lor, he has just arrived aboard the station and is assigned to the Blackwell as a Medical Officer!

Lor: I look forward to working together, Doctor.

::He reached out to shake the Doctor's hand.::

G’Renn: ?

Whittaker: Ensign, this is Captain Brell from the Starship Atlantis- also assigned to the Par’tha Expanse.

Lor: I'm glad to make your acquaintance, Captain.  

::He reached out to shake the Captain's hand.::  

Brell: ?

((OOC: What occurs below is after Theo introduces Saden around/moments before Theo's speech.))

::Left alone on the holographic ballroom floor, Saden was unsure where to go to next. Before his mind could retreat into his holofear, he caught a whiff of telepathy... Betazoid telepathy. It had friendly intentions. He was then approached by a redheaded Captain with dark eyes; those eyes confirmed to Saden who it was coming from. ::

Taybrim: Well hello there!  ::He scanned Lor’s appearance and offered a gentle smile:: You look like you just arrived.  Is everything OK?

Lor: Besides getting sneezed on with acidic mucus, being my first day, and feeling under dressed at this classy affair, I say I'm doing good. How are you, Captain?

Taybrim / Trel’lis: ?

::Saden, used to being around humans, almost let out a hand to shake but realized that was not the traditional Betazoid way to greet. Sal offered a polite Betazoid half-bow and made the sign of the ring for friendship and good fortune. Saden repeated the gesture, albeit a bit awkwardly. He realized it has been a long time since he's seen anyone of his kind.::

Taybrim: It is a pleasure to meet you.  I’m Sal Taybrim, and this is Trel’lis – we are both old friends of Commander Whittaker.

::Catching himself this time, Saden's intuition gave him a feeling that Trel'lis had a Betazoid vibe but couldn't tell how "deep" she was in the culture. He played it safe and gave her a half-bow.::

Lor: And it's great to meet you too. I hope me being awkward and lost didn't break y'all's vibe here.

Trel’lis: ?

Taybrim: Please, don’t worry.  I’m delighted to meet new officers, and this event is all about enjoying oneself not putting on airs.  ::His dark eyes looked thoughtful for a moment:: Perhaps we should all claim a drink and get to know one another better?

Lor: That sounds like a great idea; I could go for a Moscow Mule. My trip out here was a long one.

Trel’lis: ?

::Saden followed Sal's lead to the liquor.::

((OOC: During Theo's speech.))  

:: Listening to Theo's speech gave Saden a small smile. Seeing all this Starfleet tradition and history show itself on his first day gave him great vibes. It encouraged Saden to give it his all for these folks. He told himself that this beat growing meat for a Ferengi burger chain, even if this job gets tough... which he knew it will.::

::Saden's thoughts were broken by noticing Theo transitioning his speech from the people he knew to the people he will be knowing soon.::

Lor: oO Gods, I hope I don't have to talk. I just need to say "thank you." That's it. Don't tell bad jokes. Don't tell bad jokes. Don't tell bad jokes. Oo

Whittaker: I think that is everybody who has travelled from other assignments and planets to be here tonight. ::he smiled.:: The Blackwell has had a new influx of crew that I wish I welcome tonight. I would like to fomally welcome Lieutenant Commander MacKenna, our new Chief Science Officer; Ensign M’Roa who also joins the science division, Ensign Lor who joined us as a Medical Officer and finally, please join me in welcoming back Ensign Talos Dakora who joins us a member of the Intelligence division. Welcome to the four of you.

Lor: oO Don't tell bad jokes. Don't tell bad jokes. Oo  Thank you! I'm glad to be joining the Blackwell crew; I can't wait to see what diseases you guys will pick up. I'll make sure my bedside manner is contagious. oODammit. I did it. Oo

::Saden didn't hear any laughter. He knew that was going to happen.::

Lor: But seriously. Stay in good health. I don't want any of you to catch something as bad as my humor. oO Okay. Just stop. Just. Stop. Oo ::Saden gave a nod that he was done.::

::In awkward silence, the speech continued with Saden mentally kicking himself.::

Lor: oO I hope the other Betazoids aren't hearing me right now. Oo
