((Lighthouse Restaurant, Amity Outpost))
Rivi had planned for this event to be just for her crew, but Mavenni Siyel and the Second House's *generous* offer to host something truly special was one she couldn't afford to decline, not just because of social etiquette but because of the upcoming mission ahead. It would serve no one to offend one of the most important noble houses.
Besides, perhaps Mavenni was right. This *was* a special occasion. Amity Outpost was nearing its one-year anniversary of operation, and the crew had much to celebrate. As everyone continued to mingle at their tables, Rivi looked over at Keehani and John, who'd both be helping her tonight with the presentation.
Wearing a
flowing but short blue dress that exposed her sides and back, Rivi stood up and made her way to a podium that had been set up by the restaurant staff, a view of the stars and the purple whisps of the benamite-filled nebula seen behind her.
Vataix: Welcome everyone. First, let me thank Mother Mavenni Siyel and the Second House of Betazed for arranging this lovely dinner for us tonight. The Second House wishes to honor all of your achievements this past year, and I wholeheartedly agree that you all should be proud of what we've built out here at Amity.

Vataix: I'd like to begin now with recognition for a few individuals in particular. First, Ensign Nathan Richards?
Richards: Response
Vataix: For the severe injuries you sustained while working to extract a subspace antenna, you are hereby recognized with the Purple Heart.
Richards: Response
Carter: Response
She took the ribbon from John and presented it to Richards, pinning it on his uniform.
Vataix: May you continue to heal and recover smoothly.
Rivi then looked out towards the gathered officers.
Vataix: Where's Bec?
Iko: Response
Vataix: Come up here, please!
As the young officer stepped up, Rivi read from the prepared citations.
Vataix: For risking your own life to retrieve Ensign Richards after he was hit by the duplicated probes in the subspace sinkhole, Lieutenant Bec Iko, you are hereby awarded with the Gold Lifesaving Ribbon.
Iko: Response
Vataix: Congratulations.
Iko: Response
Richards: Response
Rivi then smiled and looked over at John after she saw the next name on the list.
Vataix: John, it's your turn. For taking command of the USS Independence during the emergency and leading the crew effectively while they were separated by bulkheads and communication interference, you are hereby awarded the Legion of Merit. Keehani?
Retrieving the ribbon from Keehani, Rivi pinned the recognition onto John's uniform.
Vataix: Congratulations!
Carter: Response
Vataix: Next, I'd like to recognize the following officers with the Captain's Commendation: Ensign Richards, Lieutenants Iko and Flint, for successfully retrieving a subspace antenna that was integral to your rescue; and Lieutenant Kivik, for nir EVA efforts to ensure an antigraviton beam was properly extended into the subspace sinkhole so that the Independence could be pulled out. Well-done, all of you!
Richards: Response
Iko: Response
Flint: Response
Kivik: Response
Vataix: Next, I'd like to recognize Wil Ukinix with the Innovation Ribbon for his actions to establish communications with the USS Kitty Hawk through technological means of extraordinary effort and skill. In light of us having two individuals with a shared history of this notable act, I present both of the men named Wil Ukinix with this ribbon.
Ukinix(H): Response
The Betazoid iteration of Wil stood up with amusement as he approached and received the ribbon from Rivi.
Ukinix(B): Thank you, Rivi.
Keehani: Response
Vataix: Next, Dr. Orrey, Lieutenants Reade and Wong, and Lieutenant Commander Carter, you all are hereby recognized with the Good Conduct Ribbon for your gallantry in facing the onslaught of the duplicated probes against the hull of the USS Independence to ensure that communications could be properly established. Congratulations, gentlemen.
Orrey: Response
Reade: Response
Wong: Response
Carter: Response
Vataix: And lastly, I have a few points of recognition that go beyond this past mission. First, Lieutenant Wong and Lieutenant Commander Iovianus, you have served as department heads of your respective departments for well beyond the minimum six months required by this ribbon and you have served them with distinction. I hereby award both of you with the Department Chief Ribbon.
Wong: Response
Iovianus: Response
Vataix: And finally, believe it or not, we are coming up on the one-year anniversary since Amity Outpost first opened its airlocks to the people of the Delta Quadrant. To honor the original crew who have been here since day one, I am proud to present Lieutenant Commanders Ukinix, Carter, and Iovianus as well as Lieutenants Ariadust, Reade, Iko, Wong, and Kivik with the Maiden Voyage Ribbon. Congratulations all of you. My staff and I of the Federation Diplomatic Corps could not have done our work without your crucial support.
Any: Response
Rivi raised her glass and dipped her head slightly towards the audience.
Vataix: Congratulations and well-done, once again, to the crew of Amity Outpost. May this just be the first of many years to come for our shining beacon of friendship out here amongst the stars.
TAG! END
