While she was immensely gladdened by Ceciri’s return to consciousness – and apparent retention of her spirited manner – was was disheartened by Ariadust’s confirmation that Tri’lea had rather overstepped her bounds. Her intentions had been noble, of course, but as anyone can tell you, intentions pale in comparison to actions.

She did her best to set that aside – waiting to confront her mistakes until another time. Right now Ceciri’s wellbeing was her primary concern, especially as Wong and Ariadust seemed to be disagreeing somewhat over the proper course of treatment.

Ariadust: .. I would rather not. I don't mind coming in for checkups tomorrow, but I'd really rather rest in my quarters.

Tri’lea could tell that the idea of allowing Ceciri out of his sight troubled Wong. However, she opted to maintain relative neutrality. The last thing she wanted was to continue to advocate, unwanted, on Ariadust’s behalf – especially when she seemed to be doing a fine job of it herself.

Instead, she simply crossed her arms and leaned back against the wall, hoping to appear unintrusive.

Wong: That said, how are you feeling otherwise?

Ariadust: Tired. A little sore. Not very sore though.

Polgonz: I would expect so, after what you went through.

Wong: Is there anything I can do for you in the meantime?

Ariadust: Well.. if you aren't going to let me leave, I should probably catch up on reports. And what little mail I have, I suppose. I need to file a report before any consequences attach themselves to Paarus. ::muttering:: And I need to file it in triplicate, because I've got to send it back to three places, and the form is slightly different. And I suppose if I'm particularly unlucky I'll have to answer an Captain's Mast, so I'd like to get this done early.

Wong: I would like to keep you for observation, Lieutenant. However, I can arrange for you to have a PADD to work on if you'd like.

Polgonz: Given the circumstances, I can’t imagine that Daughter Rivi would be very.. ::searching for the right term:: ..punitive?

Ariadust: I don't think it very likely. There should be some consequences, but it's likely to be a letter of reprimand in my file. ::Ceciri shrugged:: Whatever I think about it, in the end, I put him in a dangerous situation by allowing my better judgement to be overruled by other concerns. I'm fortunate we weren't more badly injured. But I'd really rather do this in my own quarters.

Wong: Perhaps focusing on your worries right now isn't the best. There will always be time to sort things out later.

Just as Tri’lea was about to speak, she felt a chill run up her spine. Someone was projecting a particularly rampageous energy throughout the medical center – the mental equivalent to grating one’s fingernails down a chalkboard – and it was certainly not anyone in the room.

Polgonz: What in the world is–

Barberra: Excuse me, Doctor Wong?  Medical emergency.  ::pointing at eyes:: I have an extreme case of green eye and I need looking at.  And because I’m a Betazoid, I might die.

Tri’lea turned to face the unwelcome intruder – a young woman, distinctly not a Betazoid – with cream smeared about her face as if she had fallen face-first into a small overly-frosted cake. oO This is the source of that ghastly mental state? Oo  she reeled. Had she not been wearing a Starfleet uniform, Tri’lea might have thought a Cardassian torturer had come aboard.

Wong evidently shared her skepticism, though his thoughts were rather drowned out by the woman’s intense loathing and aggressive boredom.

Wong: Really? Because if you're Betazoid, why are your eyes brown, Crewman?

Barberra: Haven’t you ever seen a Betazoid with a case of Orion conjunctivitis *so* severe it changes my normally black eye colour to light brown?

While opening her eyes wide as much as possible, she aggressively pointed her index finger between her left and right eye a few times.  She then pointed at Tri’lea in an intimidating way while screwing up her nose.

Barberra: Don’t make me read your *thoughts*.

Tri’lea, already quite fed up with the woman’s intrusive antics, replied sardonically whilst checking her nails.

Polgonz: You clearly don’t know much about Betazoids… ::Death stare:: Don’t make me melt your brain. ::Smile::

Wong: Well, for one thing - I know green eye isn't a thing. Second thing ::giving Ariadust her PADD:: Dermaline with the B Formulation has been known to cause a reaction around sensitive areas for a few of those allergic to the stuff. ::Grabbing a cloth for Barberra:: And third, why are you here?

Barberra: ::Sigh:: Because my Commanding officer told me I have to get a stupid physical with Doctor Wong.

oO Your commanding officer… And who might that be? Oo  Tri’lea considered whether or not this breach of protocol might warrant a conversation with the crewman’s commanding officer – then stopped herself. She had meddled enough. Right now was not the time to continue making enemies… so long as the intruder stopped being a nuisance.

Ariadust: So.. you thought that the best way to get that was to lie about it?

Ikaia tossed the cloth over to the curious crewman to clean herself up.

Wong: Here. Try this.

Evidently Wong’s irritation was also building – though Tri’lea sensed it was not exclusively directed at Crewman Green Eye.

Wong: Alright. Last I checked, this is a recovery room and NOT a zoo. So everybody out. Shoosh! Unless your name is Lieutenant Ariadust, you need to leave and give my patient her space.

Polgonz: Now – just a moment…

Ariadust/Barberra: Response

Ikaia held his hand out to the crewman to stop her for a moment.

Wong: As for you, Crewman, I want you in my examination room - Room 4A. You have your appointment. Today.

Ariadust/Barberra: Response

Polgonz: I don’t see why this intrusion should reflect on my ability to visit Ceciri. That should be her decision.

Tri’lea wilfully ignored, for the moment, the fact that Ceciri may be just as likely to ask for her to leave anyways. Wong seemed unimpressed with her assertion.

Wong: You, don't distress my patients please.

Polgonz: ::Indignant:: I was no-

Ariadust/Barberra: Response

Next, Wong turned to Ceciri herself.

Wong: And finally you, please rest well. I've given you a PADD to work on should you desire to do so. But please don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything further.

Ariadust/Barberra: Response

Wong: Everybody out.

Ariadust/Barberra: Response

Tri’lea, bewildered and shocked by the entire turn of events, held her hands in the air and made her way swiftly out of the room.

Polgonz: Well… I never!

As she passed Emilia, the holographic secretary attempted to get her attention.

Emilia: Daughter Ascendant Polgonz – you didn’t happen to notice Crewman Barberra in there did you? I tried to inform her that she needs to make an appointment.

Tri’lea paused, and turned slowly to face the hologram.

Polgonz: Crewman Barberra, was it? ::Holding out her hand:: About this tall? Red uniform? Oppressively dark eyeliner?

Emilia: I believe that could serve as a reasonable description.

Polgonz: Yes, I did see her. Lieutenant Wong decided to make an exception for her. She came in with a terribly serious case of… Orion Conjunctivitis, I believe.

Emilia: ::Pause:: I have no record of such an illness in my databa-

Polgonz: And whom does Crewman Barberra report to, exactly? I might want to check in with them about this *ahem* serious health concern.

Emilia: Crewman Barberra is the Liaison Officer for the Starfleet Attaché, Lieutenant Commander Ukinix.

Polgonz: ::Smiling:: Very interesting. Thank you, Emilia.
