((Bridge, Talon Scout Daintree, Barossa Nebula))

Vathrik: I trust your ship’s core is as dangerous as you claim. If not… prepare to fight for your lives.

Rosek-Skyfire: ::huffs:: If a core breach is enough to take down an Intrepid-class ship, it can certainly take down one or more of your ships.

Hopper: Hopper: Let’s just hope that better judgement prevails, hmm?

Galanis: Fifteen seconds…

Ysal: =/\= Very well, Starfleet. We withdraw. Do not seek to enter our territory again. =/\= ::A pause:: =/\= We will send an escort to retrieve our Prime Claimant. If he has been harmed in any way, there will be consequences. =/\=

Her fingers were poised and ready. The course was laid out, and the speed was also. It would only take a compression of her finger on a single button, and they’d shoot off like a rocket, her other hand ready to toggle the maneuvering thrusters like a joystick in an old-fashioned Earth jet. She’d clocked enough flight hours for that part of flying to come naturally. The tricky part was always dodging the obstacles.

Galanis: Three… two…

Hopper: GUN IT!

Kade: Shunting all reserve power to the impulse engines!

Lael didn’t need to be told twice. Her finger jammed into the button, and they were off like a shot. She didn’t bother checking the readings to see if their plan had worked. Her main objective was to ensure they didn’t get caught in its wake. There was no time to stop or second guess herself.

Kade / Galanis: Response

Rosek-Skyfire: I see it. Diverting available power to the maneuvering thrusters.

Kade: Starboard impulse engine showing signs of strain, sirs!

Galanis: Response

Hopper: Hold on, everyone…  ::Eying tactical::  Just a few thousand kilometers to Amity’s shield!

Vathrik: Response

The craft shook and tilted to one side, threatening to throw her from her seat. Somehow, though, she held her ground. Her brow furrowed as she dodged obstacle after obstacle.

Suddenly, an alarm blared, lighting up a section of her console.

Kade: Transferring power from life support to inertial dampers.

They’d used up everything they had, but they were safe. No doubt the Daintree would require extensive repairs and a replacement warp core–which Lael was more than happy to help with. As much as she enjoyed a change of pace, she was an engineer at heart and always looking for an excuse to get back into the engine room.

Kade: ::Tapping their combadge::  =/\= Amity Outpost. This is the Daintree. All systems offline. Requesting urgent transport. =/\=

A wry, unamused grimace twisted her lips, and she subtly relayed a piggyback message that she’d go by shuttle if need be. If it were just her she wouldn’t have a problem with it. But her background in starship technology and engineering meant she was all too aware of its history, namely the Tuvix incident. This was one thing she fully agreed with Doctor McCoy on–not while she was pregnant and due to give birth any day.

Hopper: =/\= We have a Vaadwaur guest with us. Have a security officer and an FDC rep meet us in the transporter bay. =/\=

Galanis/Vathrik: Response?

Amity: =/\= Roger, Daintree. Prepare for transport. =/\=

She removed her commbadge and set it to the side in case they didn’t receive her message. The wait was fine by her.

Galanis/Vathrik: Response?

Hopper: I’m glad your position still held some sway, Prime Claimant… And I guess you’ll get a chance to see our station up-close and personal now. I’m sure our Diplomatic Corps hosts will be happy to meet you and show you around.

Another wry, unamused grimace twisted Lael’s lips. Even if the Prime Claimant were interested in a tour, she had the feeling his colleagues would be less than pleased with this idea.

Rosek-Skyfire: oO For a change, not my monkeys–Oo

That was Wil and Robin’s fire to deal with. She’d be more than content with a long, hot bubble bath and a decent nap.
