((OOC – This meeting takes place after Samantha Richards’ initial meeting with Rivi Vataix, and immediately prior to my [Act 1] starting sim, which will be forthcoming later today / early tomorrow and tag in the rest of the group!))

((Hopper’s Office, Level 12, Science & Research Center / SRC – Amity Outpost))

Robin hummed softly to herself as she delicately lifted the little green water can from the replicator recessed in her office wall, carrying it over to the plant pot on her desk. Her Hoya carnosa sat just to the side, in its ecoplastic grow pot, as she poured a measure of water about one-third of the way up the inside of the rounded ceramic cover pot. Then, setting the watering can down, she placed the hoya back into the decorative vessel and allowed its soil and roots to begin soaking up the water.

As she prepared to fetch the Philodendron hederaceum that was hanging in a geometric pot across the room, there was a gentle tone from her office door.

Hopper: Enter!

Shifting her focus from plant management to personnel, Robin looked up at her visitor with a warm, but professional, smile that quickly broadened into a wide grin as she recognized the face that entered.

S. Richards: Response

Hopper: Sam! Well, look at you… you made it!  ::Circling her desk and hugging the younger Richards sister::  Does Nathey-poo know you’re on-station yet?

S. Richards: Response

She chuckled conspiratorially. Sam’s documentation had crossed her desk a few weeks prior – a new incoming planetary scientist joining the civilian team, but with noted interest in working on joint projects with Starfleet.

As the Chief Science Officer aboard the station, Hopper was tasked with managing an interesting portfolio – not directly in charge of, but coordinating the administration of, Amity’s sizable civilian contingent, in conjunction with directing the efforts of her Starfleet Science team. Most of the time that meant reviewing proposals, ensuring the distribution of resources, and approving lab requisitions for the civilians, rather than directly overseeing their work. In some cases, however, there were opportunities for both teams to collaborate. In such instances, special temporary access was often required for the civvies to access the Starfleet labs – and the work fell directly under her purview. It was a limited and, thus, coveted opportunity amongst the civilian branch.

Moving back around to her side, Robin popped open the mini-fridge under her desk with a light practiced kick, then reached inside.

Hopper: Soda? I’ve got cola, orange soda, and some sort of clear sparkling lemonade-y thing that I just discovered last week.

S. Richards: Response

Hopper: Suit yourself!  ::Fetching a beverage for herself as well, placing drink(s) on the desk::  Have a seat – oh, and you can just call me Robin, even on the job…

She winked playfully, then paused a moment, before offering a correction.

Hopper: Well, maybe stick with “Commander” if we’re in front of Ambassador Vataix. Or, um, visiting diplomats like the Talaxians.  ::Beat::  Or, you know, the President.  ::Chuckling::  Okay, it’s not that simple, I guess. But, at least here in my office – we’re just Robin and Sam, got it?

S. Richards: Response

Robin raised her cola in a cheersing motion then took a sip.

Hopper: SO! You finished your degree and figured you’d get straight into the action out here in the D.Q., rather than spend four years at the Academy – is that more-or-less right?

S. Richards: Response
