She relaxed a little into the seat. Her emotions remained open. As much as the offer was genuine, all those awkward conversations had given her a great deal of practice at matters not working out. Such was an inherent risk of making the offer.

Aitas: I don’t need an answer tonight, if you’d both prefer to talk it over. ::Aitas raised her drink with a smile.:: Well, barring the topic of mystery novels. I should really try to read something other than news reports and PADDwork.

Hopper: Oh I don’t know. Is there anything to really talk over, Keehani?

Aitas took a slow sip of her drink, her gaze shifting between Keehani and Robin.

Hopper: ::Indicating the horga’hn behind Keehani’s ear::  I mean, as far as I’m concerned, you two have my ‘blessing’. What else do you need?

Keehani turned to Aitas and smiled.

Keehani: ::Playfully:: More horga’hns?

Aitas: Oh, that I can manage. ::she pulled a silver chain out of a pocket. It held a small horga’hn, carved from dark wood.:: It’s a rather useful thing to have around.

Especially for the sort of evenings where she went out seeking company.

It looked like the drinks were starting to affect the others; Aitas would have to order something stronger for herself the next round. Another aspect where she took after the Vulcan side of her heritage.

Hopper: What is it that you both look for in a romantic partner, anyways? I mean, what’s “your type”, so to speak? If you even have a ‘type’.

Aitas had more than a few types, over the years. An Andorian marine she’d meet up with for drinks and a private dance afterward, Antero bringing her flowers after she’d been thrown across the Albion bridge, a variety of briefer encounters expressed in fingers brushed against skin and darkened rooms.

Keehani: Hmm, my “type”... intelligent, has empathy, looks after themselves... ::glancing towards Aitas, half chuckling:: has a horga’hn behind their ear.

Aitas: Only the one?

She made her expression a perfect mask of Vulcan composure for a moment, then let that collapse into a smirk as she continued.

Aitas: I haven’t been accused of being a romantic in a while. But passion, dedication…I’ll admit to a weakness for hands, also.

She let her gaze slip over toward Keehani.

Hopper: ::Chuckling::  I feel so basic by comparison… I’ve just always wanted a man who was genuine, funny, has a brain, and looks like a Greek God – oh, minus the beard though. Yuck.

Aitas wasn’t sure what the problem with those particular beards might be. Or all beards? She wasn’t sure. Robin had certainly seemed charmed enough by Jakarn.

Keehani: ::chin on fist, looking at Robin:: You’re not “basic”, you’re an amazing person who got your type, didn’t you. You married him. ::playfully:: Unless he grows a beard.

Aitas: I’d hardly call ‘resembles a deity’ basic either.

She was rather too unfamiliar with both Terran deities and Nathan Richards to speak any further about the comparison.

Keehani: How is it all going with Nathan, Robin? I know his transfer to the Shelby must have been difficult. But I’m also led to understand that is not unusual in Starfleet?

Aitas gave a brief, agreeing nod to the last part of that. Starfleet had vast areas to cover, and some particular shortages after Frontier Day.

Hopper: Response

Aitas: By Starfleet standards the Shelby is relatively close. But it's still quite a distance.

Space could feel so small at times. Except for when someone you cared about was elsewhere.

Hopper/Keehani: Response

Aitas: ::to Robin:: I suspect you could have your choice of assignments, if you wanted it. Though perhaps not too soon. Amity would hate to lose you.

A glance at Keehani over the rim of her glass. Aitas tilted her head to show off the horga’hn.

Hopper/Keehani: Response

Aitas: I’m told I have a rather unusual skillset, but we’ll see where it leads me.

She gave Robin a shrug and Keehani another flash of a smile. Aitas had a few suspicions for the evening, but beyond that…she’d see what happened.

Hopper/Keehani: Response
