((Vaadwaur Escape Pod))

Yrnans waved his medical data collector above the clearly wounded person - who had no feathers, a strange set of multiple head crests, and arms decorated artistically with ink.

The appearance of the species made her own head crest rise a little.

Yrnans: Injuries are consistent with the data given by the occupant. Shrapnel, burns and the data also suggests there are internal injuries. I am unable to determine the severity.

Naarax: Lieutenant Junior Grade Seleya of Khanda, do we have permission to treat you?

Seleya: I am the current occupant, glad my data is consistent, and yes, please

It didn’t really matter if the apparent Starfleet officer said yes or no, they would treat them anyway before beaming them back to the O’Ran. She nodded to Yrnans for them to proceed.

Yrnans: At once, Scientist II, but...

The medical scientist trailed off.

Naarax: Scientist III Yrnans, speak freely or not at all.

He bristled his feathers, before continuing.

Yrnans: I have only been trained to treat Trenvonn.

The Starfleet officer showed a strange gesture by moving her eyeballs in an arc. She assumed it was annoyance.

Naarax: Sustainment for now is satisfactory, until we hear from the High Council. I have never interacted with any other species, so this is new for me as well. ::To Seleya:: What species are you?

Yrnans attended to areas of bleeding first, using his medical cylinder to numb areas to remove shrapnel from the most affected parts of the person’s body.

Seleya: My people are called the Kazleti, a recent member species of the Federation.

Naarax: I recognise your uniform as Starfleet? Or at least, a variation thereof?

Seleya: Command red, yes. Specifically Starfleet Intelligence.

“Intelligence”. That opened up a whole stream of new data.

Naarax: Then can you explain how it is that you entered Trenvonn space in a Vaadwaur escape pod?

Seleya: I was in the Devinon System on an assignment. I was auditing and inspecting manifests and cargo. The Vaadwaur decided to kidnap me, and in short after a long game of hide and seek the Vaadwaur ship started having troubles in underspace. I don’t exactly know what, but I barely made it to the escape pod and ended up here. And I still don’t know where Trenvonn space is, but I can promise you that it was not my intention to trespass, and I am sure you can tell by the state of the pod, not like I got thrusters or scanners at the moment.

Naarax clicked her beak at the apparent detailed disclosure from the Starfleet officer. But how would she ever verify it?

Naarax: Yes, ::looking around escape pod:: that much is apparent. And Vaadwaur you say?

Yrnans: Scientist II, her injuries are concerning, and effects are spreading.

Seleya: I am going to -need- you to check my blood’s palladium levels and to tell me if the levels are over 250 ng/ml. It is a matter of life and death.

Yrnans: Palladium?

Seleya: My species blood is slightly toxic, we have a natural resistance to it, but if levels get too high it can begin poisoning our entire body. I am going to need you to stop worrying about the shrapnel and scan for internal bleeding, and please tell me you have \? It’s been used before to lower my palladium levels.

The medical Scientist II returned to his scans.

Yrnans: Scans, of course, as for Chelation-- Scientist II?

It seemed that Yrnans had delegated Naarax to be the deliverer of bad news. She clicked her beak twice.

Naarax: We have a metal ion detoxification protocols, of course, but it is designed for Trenvonn, not for any other species. I am unsure of the efficacy of its use on you.

Seleya: Well, what do you have on hand?

Naarax bristled her feathers briefly at that. The Trenvonn, as an advanced technocracy, had medical science capability likely beyond what the Federation had, with a caveat - it was geared specifically towards their own species.

Yrnans: Our standard chelator is not palladium selective. It will bind the palladium your oxygen-binding protein depends on, not just the excess.

The medical Scientist III turned to Naarax with some urgency.

Yrnans: We need to urge the High Council to act.

Seleya: Well if you reach out to Starfleet, they can explain that I am not here to spy on anyone. And hopefully they can send you information on my species biology so I don’t die in this escape pod.

Naarax: There is no conclusive data that suggests that you are *not* here to spy on the Trenvonn, with respect Seleya of Khanda. Regardless, your injuries require treatment, what is done with you after that will be the decision of the Grand Experts.

She turned to the security Fellows that accompanied them.

Naarax: Remain vigilant, and stay with the Starfleet officer at all times. Transport us back to the O’Ran’s medical facility. ::turning to Seleya:: I will implore the High Council to contact Starfleet.

One of the Fellows nodded, before activating a device on their weapon, remotely activating their transporter and beaming them back in an instant to the ship.

((OOC from Seleya’s writer: Note about Kazleti biology and Seleya’s condition: Kazleti have Palladium based hemerythrin, their blood is a light purple with a slight silvery metallic sheen. Kazleti blood is slightly toxic, like retail cleaner chemicals toxic, so won’t kill anyone unless exposed to a lot of it. Kazleti have a natural resistance and an organ that is used to filter out the toxic byproducts into their natural waste.

Seleya has a genetic condition called Vryi’Taerol’s Disorder, her blood has a high amount of Palladium that makes her blood more toxic. There is no known cure at the moment, and OOC not looking for a cure story at this time. Seleya manages it, but if she has internal injuries or if her Palladium levels spike her own blood can begin poisoning her, which is what led to her vitiligo where her blood killed the melatonin cells due to injuries sustained from a previous mission.

The idea so far is that, the amount of radiation she has taken in, either from underspace, or even the Vaadwaur vessel destruction, her Palladium levels are spiking, and other potential internal injuries can leave up to medical staff.))

((Medical Facility, Trenvonn Ship O’Ran - 20 minutes later))

Yrnans had to improvise with existing Trenvonn medical technology. Using a standard “blood soaker” device he was able to slow the concentration rise of palladium in the Starfleet officer.

Yrnans: I have determined that several of your internal organs have suffered considerable damage. I have telemetry, but no answers on how best to treat them. What is your-- how do you feel?

Seleya: Response

Yrnans, as a medical Scientist II, didn’t understand the Trenvonn obsession with being insular to other species. The ascension was something he believed that his kind could achieve one day, without question. But why not explore? Reach out to others? Maybe they had data that would provide the missing piece in the quest to become a higher lifeform.

Their isolationist policy made no sense to him. But the government structure was such that unless someone had accompanying data, there was no point in submitting theoretical proposals lest it might result in punishment, and your whole scientific career suddenly becomes spent on developing better food distribution techniques, or more efficient waste disposal recycling methods.

And given the Trenvonn were isolationists, only the High Council maintained data about other civilisations and species. Even then, he understood those data sets to be limited.

(OOC: I am happy to backsim Naarax meeting Wong and Nevark before this point if you like!)

The doors to the medical facility slid open, which made Yrnans turn to see Naarax leading in two more Starfleet officers. Again, both were different species.

That took the total tally of species encountered other than Trenvonn in his life from zero to... three.

He would never forget this rotation.

Naarax: Lieutenant Junior Grade Seleya of Khanda. It seems the High Council have made the rare move of allowing your colleagues into our space.

Yrnan turned to study the officer with ridges on his forehead, and the shorter woman with black eyeballs.

Naarax: You may treat your colleague as needed, and then return to neutral space as soon as possible, such that we may return to our studies. A decision will be made by the High Council as to whether Seleya of Khanda can return with you.

Wong/Nevark/Seleya: Response

Yrnans: I can share my telemetry thus far with you.

With a few presses on his cylinder device, the data on his unconventional patient was uploaded to the medical officer’s own medical instrument.

The security Fellows watched on, weapons stowed, but ready in case they needed to defend themselves and their fellow Trenvonn.

Wong/Seleya/Nevark: Response
