(OOC: Ending this one as we are starting our mission soon!)

((The Next day – Three Stripes, Grand Mezzanine))

As they walked in, the owner of the bar approached them.  Immediately noticing that Solak was fellow Vulcan, she offered the traditional Vulcan greeting.

T’plotuk: ::Vulcan salute:: Live long and prosper.  I am T’plotuk, purveyor of the finest beverages in the Barossa sector.

The woman’s artificially coloured burgundy hair was prominently noticeable.  Solak considered that her claim that she offered the finest beverages in the sector could be an exaggeration unless she could provide satisfactory evidence.  But then again, it was not surprising to Solak that a Vulcan that owned a cocktail bar would be so rebellious.

T’plotuk: ::Vulcan salute:: Peace and long life.  I am Solak, Starfleet Stellar Cartographer.

Aleksandrov: ::Vulcan salute:: I am Kamoyo Aleksandrov, geologist.

T’plotuk: It is agreeable to welcome you both to Three Stripes.  May I offer you a position at the lounge at the far end of the establishment.  ::Politely handing out PADDS:: Here are two menuPADDs, so that you may choose a beverage from our unique list.

T’plotuk gestured for the two to head to their assigned lounge.  Once there, Solak allowed Kamoyo to sit first before taking his seat shortly after.

Solak: If it is not improper, may I request a summation of pertinent information regarding yourself, so that we may be better acquainted?

Aleksandrov: It is not improper, however, what is pertinent is dependent upon a number of different factors. ::she ordered a mineral water with a smile::

Solak: Could you elaborate.

While Kamoyo spoke, Solak quickly ordered the “Plomeetini” from the menuPADD – a non-alcoholic Plomeek Martini “mocktail” – before returning his focus to the Geologist.

Aleksandrov: For example, my answer could be: I was born. I matured. I am assigned here. It covers all the points I may consider relevant, yet do not answer the inquiry in a manner you would find satisfactory.

Solak: A fair argument, Doctor.  I did not provide sufficient context and made an assumption regarding the context of the information I requested.  Allow me to clarify – I was seeking information pertinent to our current context.  That is, we are both stationed on a new Federation outpost, and we are on a date.

Aleksandrov: ::leaning back in her seat:: To answer that question, I will tell you that upon obtaining my PhD in geology and geophysics, I applied for teaching positions off-world. I was fortunate to have my application accepted at the Vulcan Institute of Science. I even attained the title of T'Kehr. I taught there for several years and learned quite a bit about the people and your culture.

Solak: Fascinating.  That does explain the sudden change in your social intercourse and demeanor from the moment I asked you to accompany me on a date.  Your application of Vulcan logic and reasoning is apparent.

Aleksandrov: I have learned a very deep appreciation for Vulcan logic as it applies to the sciences. It makes the discoveries even more satisfying.

Solak: As a fellow scientist I must agree.  Shall we order food?  Please provide me with your selections and I will place the order.

Aleksandrov: ::skims through the menuPADD:: I will start with t'miirq soup, followed by Kahri-torrafeiaca over anwoa sprouts with a vranto salad to the side. I will end with iced fruit. Thank you.

Solak: ::tapping menuPADD:: Very well.  And I will have the Jumbo Vulcan mollusk in redwine and redspice sauce.  ::further taps to menuPADD::  A curious combination.  I will finish with a Belgian chocolate mousse.

Solak gave Kamoyo a polite nod, before continuing the conversation.

Solak: It is fortuitous that you spent time at the Vulcan Science Academy.  I too studied philosophy there in my youth.  It led me to becoming interested in the science of prediction.  After that, I became intrigued by exploration, and joined Starfleet.

Aleksandrov: Response

Solak: What is your anticipated outcomes of being assigned to Amity Outpost?

Aleksandrov: Response

Solak: Admittedly, initiating a courtship ritual was not an activity that I had planned.  However, we must be adaptive.  On a previous Starfleet vessel, the USS Veritas, I learned the value of logical relationships for mutual beneficial gain.  I established a friendship with the ship’s CMO, Dr MacKenzie, before she was transferred.

Aleksandrov: Response

Right on cue, their food arrived at their table.

T’plotuk: ::Placing dishes in front of Kamoyo:: T'miirq soup, and Kahri-torrafeiaca over anwoa sprouts with a vranto salad to the side.  ::Placing dish in front of Solak:: Jumbo Vulcan mollusk in redwine and redspice sauce.  I anticipate you will find these meals satisfactory.

Solak: How can you be certain?  We have not tasted the dishes as yet.

T’plotuk: Statistically speaking, the vast majority of patrons to this establishment have reported satisfactory experiences, or better, with the items on the menu.  There is a high probability that you will both enjoy these items.

oO Enjoy?  How rebellious. Oo

As T’plotuk walked away, Solak returned his attention to Kamoyo.

Aleksandrov: Response

Solak
: The meals certainly do have a logically visual appeal, and the odor they produce does indicate high quality ingredients and preparation.  Shall we begin?

Aleksandrov: Response

As the date wore on, Solak ensured to keep the conversation going, raising topics of mutual interest, and maintaining a genuine interest in Kamoyo.  He found the social engagement agreeable and hoped that the Kamoyo would agree to a “second date” at some point in the near future…
