Aitas: As for the contemplation, well, one of my closest friends is El-Aurian. He’s quite a bit older than the Federation; such encourages a slightly different perspective on time.

Slightly was perhaps understating the matter. But then, she was aging at a rate far more similar to that of her father than the Betazoid side of her family.

Galanis: It must be such a strange experience, being able to look back like that. It hasn’t even been three hundred years since the formation of the Federation. That may as well be ancient history to Humans, but there are still people alive on Velustus today who would have been around my age when it was founded.

Aitas: It’s not so distant to the living memory of Vulcans, either.

She wasn’t about to ask those grandparents about the topic, despite a certain sense of curiosity. Her father’s side of the family had made their opinion of her quite clear.

Such thoughts were interrupted by the chime of a PADD from within Niev’s uniform, one that seemed to indicate another task to attend to from the way they began to pack up.

Galanis: Sadly, though time stretches further than we can comprehend, there never seems to be enough of it. I need to get back to the SRC. I pulled what research I can find about the behavior of sea serpents on Velestus, and I wanted to see if Mister Sakon was interested before I got back to analyzing some weather anomalies on Idrustix.

Aitas: I’m sure he will be. I’m glad he has other scientists to discuss such things with, I’ll admit there are other topics I occasionally wish to discuss over dinner.

While Niev seemed unsure about leaving, and cleared their throat before giving another nod, Aitas’ own small bow in response was swift, graceful, and certain.

Such things were an important skill for her work.

Galanis: Thank you again for your time, Miss Aitas. It was interesting, as always. I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other again soon.

Aitas: Quite. I’ll keep you informed about the tea.

Though depending on how matters went, Niev might wind up seeing that one directly.
