((Terminal A, Amity Outpost))

Having departed the Starfleet engineer and Daughter Kyri, Naminae and Tri'lea Polgonz began their trek to find Naminae's daughter.

Polgonz: ~~ As I expressed, Mother Perennial, it’s a rare honour to make your acquaintance. I’ve always admired the work you’ve done in service to your House and to Betazed – and I’ve been quite impressed with the acumen your daughter displays in her work here in the Delta Quadrant. ~~

While Naminae could still communicate easily telepathically as any other Betazoid, as an older Betazoid woman, she'd entered the Phase several years ago and her telepathic intuition had been affected. Still, she didn't trust Polgonz's words. Even telepathically, they came across with some insecurity and doubt behind them.

Naminae: ~~ Hmmph. Is that so? ~~

As they approached the train station, Polgonz continued.

Polgonz: ~~ Amity Outpost has become something of a hub for Betazoid culture here in the Delta Quadrant, with representatives from the Second, Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, Eleventh, and Twentieth Houses all congregating and working together towards the growth of our shared interests… I hope you’ll find our efforts intriguing. ~~

Naminae: ~~ Oh, have no doubts there, Ms. Polgonz. I find this all--and *your* efforts in particular quite intriguing. ~~

The younger Betazoid woman nodded, perhaps a bit cautiously.

Polgonz: ~~ If I may be so bold to ask –  I know from experience the journey can be tiring – what has brought you so far out from the mother world? ~~

Naminae: ~~ Why, you my dear. ~~

Polgonz: Response

Naminae: ~~ Your upcoming marriage. As I'm sure you're aware, noble marriages require approval of the matriarch, and for marriages between houses, both matriarchs. And in marriages such as yours with a non-Betazoid, the remaining houses appoint a matriarch to give their blessing opposite the Betazoid's own house. ~~

Polgonz: Response

Naminae: ~~ It's best if we wait until we meet with my daughter before we discuss further. ~~

((Chief of Mission's Office, Copernicus Center))

Vataix: Are there any particular species or factions that might align themselves with a particular Hirogen tribe?

Summerside: ::Chuckling::  As far as I know, you lot are the only ones crazy enough to try such a thing. I imagine everyone else has taken notice, though.

Kizat: I can’t think of any from our research but if we are talking about species that do not like us, the list is long.

Keehani: ::nodding:: Agreed.

Kizat: As the data there is surely going to prove we have a Hirogen tribe to keep a wary eye on. There are a few possibilities but this is a deep treachery we could use to turn the tribes to our favor. We shouldn’t though…

Summerside: ::Blowing air through his lips::  Pfft… Why the hell not?

Kizat: We have just spent this entire time showing how advanced our holograms have become. How realistic we can make the unreal. Now we suddenly have information that shows one of them of what could be the ultimate treachery of an already dying race. ::looking between the other two diplomats:: It could cause a civil war, or completely obliterate our chances at closer relations.

Rivi listened and found herself nodding in agreement with Kizat's assessment. While she was still learning more about her new Deputy Chief, so far, she'd found his intuition and eye sharp on the larger implications of the decisions they made from the top of Copernicus Center.

Keehani: Madam Ambassador. Who, out of all of the Hirogen, did you trust the most during our talks?

Vataix: That's difficult to say. I could sense they all had their own motivations, but I felt... a willingness to most listen from Alphas Acherax, Cigac, and Kathor.

Keehani: It may be prudent to establish a formal dialogue with them. They may be able to provide more information. For instance, they were somewhat guarded about their initial meeting several months ago. All we really know is that it was extraordinary for them to hold it.

Kizat: It wouldn’t hurt to try and reach out.

Summerside: ::Smirk::  Something tells me it could.

Rivi glanced over at Arthur with a look she usually reserved for when she was chiding Istrol or Ayeden... or Tidrid. What was it about the Y chromosome?

Vataix: Ahem.

Keehani: Can we send Starfleet to monitor and observe?

Kizat: We could send a probe that direction. Then when we “discover” the station a ship would have to be sent following protocol.

Summerside: Even if you do, what’s to stop the perpetrator from pointing the finger at you? For all you know, this could be ‘bait’... Ain’t that how these hunters operate? I’d be keeping an eye over my shoulder the whole way if I were you.

Keehani: ::Slight eye roll, quiet scowl:: Next thing you’ll be telling us is that the Kazon are on their way.

Kizat: Pakled problems would be preferred.

Summerside: Who?

Vataix: ::waves off the question with her hand:: That's not important right now. What is though is making sure we stay on top of this.

She looked at the others.

Vataix: Let's see if we can draft up some initial defense agreements with those tribes I mentioned earlier. We can offer the use of our probes as part of such agreements. It may help show our commitment to creating a real working relationship.

Keehani: ::Turning to Rivi, hands clasped in front of herself:: Is there anything else, Madam Ambassador?

Kizat: Not an enviable situation we find ourselves in.

Vataix: Nothing at the moment. Are there any other thoughts?

Kizat: We need more information before we act definitively but this situation is at our doorstep we cannot ignore it.

A knock at the door brought their attention to a new arrival, a Suliban. Though she knew of the species, Rivi hadn't met any members of this species before in person.

Siben: Apologies for interrupting Ambassador but I was told to report on my arrival.

Vataix: Welcome! Come in and introduce yourself.

Siben: Oh! Uh yes. Siben Second Secretary for your agricultural division.

Summerside: ::Chuckling:: I thought I was the only one who barged in on closed meetings around here. ::A little wave:: Arthur Summerside, unofficial regional advisor.

Kizat: and local news reporter.

Vataix: And in regards to my "official staff"...

She gestured towards Keehani and Kizat.

Kizat: Envoy Vaje Kizat, Deputy chief of mission, Cultural and Press Counselor.

Keehani: Response

Siben: ::nodding his head to each in turn:: A pleasure to meet all of you.

Summerside: ::Looking around the room:: So – any more questions? Because if not, I’d be happy to grab a detailed PADD report of your diplomatic efforts with the Hirogen and be on my way… No need for me to stick around in your hair. ::A glance at Siben:: Or, uhh, scalp.

Vataix: That will be all, thank you, Arthur. Keehani can supply that report.

Keehani: Response

Kizat: We will talk later on I am sure Arthur.

Summerside: Response

Siben: ::nodding his head and sidestepping from the door:: Nice to meet you.

Siben: Apologies again Ambassador for interrupting.

Vataix: Oh, that's fine, we were just wrapping up. So, tell me a little more about yourself, Siben.

Siben: Response

Keehani: Response

Kizat: Response

(OOC: Continue here as you like, will backsim)

A few minutes later, though, another interruption as the doors slid open, only this time, Rivi beamed widely at the sight.

Vataix: Mother!

Naminae stepped in, along with Tri'lea.

Naminae: ~~ Too busy are you now to greet your own mother, let alone the head of the Eleventh House? And here I thought you were in charge of a simple "welcome center" and waystation. ~~

Keehani: Response

Kizat: Response

Siben: Response

Polgonz: Response

Rivi though continued to smile as she walked up and embraced her mother in a hug.

Vataix: It's good to see you. My apologies, it's been a rather eventful morning!

Naminae finished the hug and then looked around the room.

Naminae: I can see that.

Keehani: Response

Kizat: Response

Siben: Response

Polgonz: Response

She nodded before looking back at her daughter.

Naminae: I need to speak with you and Ms. Polgonz. Alone. Assuming you have the time?

Rivi nodded enthusiastically.

Vataix: Of course.

The ambassador looked back at her staff.

Vataix: Let's break for now. Get started where you can and we can finish up this afternoon, all right everyone?

Keehani: Response

Kizat: Response

Siben: Response

Once the others had left and it was just Naminae, Rivi, and Tri'lea, the younger Vataix gestured for the other two Betazoids to join her in the seating area around the coffee table.

Vataix: ~~ I'm so glad you were able to make it out here, Mother. ~~

Naminae: ~~ Well, duty calls. ~~

Polgonz: Response

Naminae: ~~ As I was explaining to Ms. Polgonz before we got here, I've been assigned as the matriarch-at-large opposite to Mother Seri of the Twentieth House for her upcoming marriage arrangement with Lady Ceciri Ariadust.

Polgonz: Response

Vataix: ~~ Oh, that's wonderful! I've been looking forward to what comes next before the wedding. ~~

Naminae: ~~ Nothing comes next. ~~

Rivi furrowed her brow and exchanged a glance with Tri'lea. She let out a slightly nervous chuckle at her mother.

Vataix: : ~~ What do you mean? ~~

Naminae: ~~ There's not going to be a wedding. ~~

The matriarch of the Eleventh House folded her hands in her lap and looked over at Tri'lea.

Naminae: ~~ As the matriarch-at-large, and with my daughter as witness, I hereby withdraw the approval for your marriage arrangement. ~~

Polgonz: Response
