((Main Engineering, UAW Enterprise – en route to United Alliance of Worlds Territory))
The past few days Nuti had barely gotten any sleep, it felt like the ship was slowly falling apart. Everyday the to-do list was getting longer, not shorter. Now they have the bio-nueral gel packs infecting her own officers under her, which took out close to a third of her department already.
On-top of it all, they were getting a visit from -the- Starfleet Voyager was a part of when it made its journey through the Delta Quadrant. Now with trying to keep the Flagship of the new Astrofleet barely together her higher ups were pressuring her to get everything put together enough to give their officers a good impression, which was hard to do with the state of repair.
This morning Nuti rushed through what breakfast she could eat in the hallways. Bringing along a spare uniform since she would not be ‘presentable’ after spending half a day going in and out of bio-hazard suits, helping her department officers fixing up main engineering, hiding all the now loose wiring that was being re-routed and fixed.
She almost got too carried away with her work when her alarm went off to warn her of when Starfleet would be expected. She quickly ran back into the lockers to wash herself quickly, and change into her fresh uniform before her communicator which vaguely resembled the Starfleet Delta chirped.
Transporter officer: Lieutenant, the Starfleet officers arrived, we’ve sent them down to main engineering.
Ko’Lforta: When!? I thought I was going to go up to meet them, I thought someone was supposed to inform me.
Transporter: We tried to get ahold of you several times, but you should see them shortly.
Nuti sighed, reminding herself to add checking on the communicators to the ever growing list as she finished putting on her Astrofleet yellow uniform. It was a mock of the Starfleet uniform with some adjustment for her species, broader shoulders since her species had three spines, no collar since they would get in the way of her gills that lined along her neck.
Nuti rushed out of her office to meet the Starfleet officers. Trying to give them a friendly smile as she nervously adjusted her uniform. Gulping as she looked around at the mess of her department. She did clean up as much as she’d hoped. She just hoped the Starfleet officers would understand.
Ko'Lforta: Welcome aboard, I am Lieutenant Ko’Lforta. Senior engineer.
Nuti extended her teal and white webbed hand hand,, she heard that the federation did handshakes as a greeting from her browse of the voyager files they had and she wanted to make sure to welcome them.
Iko: My name is Commander Iko. ::gesturing to both:: This is Ensign Saavei, Engineering, and Commander Taelon, Science.
Ko’Lforta: It is nice to meet you all. Sorry about the mess. We were hoping to have things in more order before you arrived.
Nuti let out a nervous laugh, it probably wasn’t appropriate since things were very dire, but she couldn’t help herself.
Saavei/Taelon: Response
Iko: We’re here to assist with repairs however we can. Where would you like us to start?
Ko’Lforta: Right! Well, there is a lot to do. ::She took a deep breath:: We are having issues with the antimatter regulators, so we are unable to go above warp 5 safely. We are having to re-engineer our torpedo tubes, the photons the Terrelians made were too large, so we are trying to expand the tubes. Our power system has been having random spikes that are causing overloads all over the ship. And finally with the bio-neural gel packs, we have been rerouting essential systems to the back up isolinear circuitry which was not built for the extended period of constant stress.
And that was only the high priority items, there were countless other items that needed to be fixed, but she just didn’t have the staff at the moment to see everything.
Saavei/Taelon/Iko: Response
Ko’Lforta: Well if we are going into the maintenance tubes, or working near the bio-neural gel-packs we need to be wearing biohazard suits with the infection that is now spreading around. If you are not interested in that we can look into our power system issues or the antimatter regulators?
Ko’Lforta was hoping to direct them away from the bio-neural gel packs. If she accidentally got them infected, she may just cry from the stress and she would probably be dragged through disciplinary reviews.
Saavei/Taelon/Iko: Response
Ko’Lforta: If you want to look at our current list of repairs, please do. I would really appreciate any insight you have. We have had everyone pulling double ships to get fixed.
Nuti offered her computer tablet to the three of them, for what they would like to browse. She was probably sharing a bit too much of their current disastrous state that her superiors would like, but she really needed all the help she could get.
