Wong: Oh! Ah! Aloha! I’m sorry. I didn’t see you there!
Dro: Apologies it seemed like you were engrossed in something. Do you mind if I join you?
Ikaia motiones to the seat across from him for his new mystery guest to sit down.
Wong: Oh by all means, please sit. I don’t mind the company.
Dro: Wonderful. It is a pleasure to meet you personally.
Wong: I don’t believe we’ve met. My name’s Ikaia Wong— er well, Lieutenant Ikaia Wong during work hours.
Dro: Ucron Dro, again it is a pleasure to meet you.
Wong: Well it’s a pleasure to meet you. Ah… what brings you by?
Dro: I understand I have you to thank for helping my daughter recently. Tri’lea Polgonz.
Ikaia almost backwashed the entirety of his drink across the table. Instead, he ended up just swallowing it suddenly causing a coughing fit.
Wong: ::Cough cough:: You're— ::Cough:: You're welcome….!
He was very surprised to see one of Polgonz’s parents here. He wasn’t sure what was going on or why. For all he knew, it was just a simple friendly visit. But then again, Amity is an out of the way location in the Delta Quadrant. How much of a detour was this and why?
Dro: ::sitting back in the chair:: It was important to me to come find you myself.
Wong: Well ah how can I help you, Mister Dro?
Dro: I wonder though if you could humor me slightly with a larger explanation of what happened to her?
Well, giving details about a patient was off limits and as far as he was aware, Polgonz hasn’t given her father permission into anything dealing with her care at the hands of Starfleet. So he had to be careful.
Wong: I’m going to be speaking in broad general terms as it starts to lean into a patient privacy issue. However, I will leave it up to Miss Polgonz to fill in wherever she sees fit.
Dro: Response.
Wong: So here’s what I can tell you - the planet is home to some remarkable life forms of which we encountered while we were there. Sentient bacteria. They operate in a purely symbiotic relationship with life upon the planet. Their hosts provide shelter for the bacteria while they protect their hosts from the radiation that bombards the planet. However, only telepathic species get this benefit.
Dro: Response.
Wong: In other words a Betazoid population, in theory, should fit right in on Idrustix. However, immune responses need to be accounted for. So I’ve developed a medication that allows the bacteria to live harmoniously with their hosts should they decide to stay or leave. Anyone who comes into contact with this was treated for it.
Dro: Response.
Wong: I know it’s an unexpected answer. But it’s also an accurate one.
Dro: Response.
Ikaia contemplated taking another sip of his drink. But thought better of it just in case there were any more surprises this evening.
Wong: Anyways, I’m not one to deny assistance or care to anyone. I’m always there to help as best as I can.
Dro: Response.
