Robin explained her idea to Bec – an idea that had been brewing in her mind since she first set foot into Peace Park. It was an inspiring place to walk, and there were so many activities and ways to make use of the park space, but what she felt was missing was a chance for people to get their hands in the dirt.
Hopper: I’m picturing a community garden slash agricultural space – maybe in the Mackinac biome? A little dedicated place for the folk who live and work on Amity to come together and grow their own produce. It could be fun, educational, and… you know… a chance to connect with nature. What do you think?
Bec paused to think for a moment. Robin raised her eyebrows expectantly.
Iko: I’m in.
Hopper: Oh yay! You mean it?
Iko: Yes, I’m serious. ::gesturing with head:: Shall we head over?
Robin looked around briefly.
Hopper: Right now?
She supposed Bec wasn’t exactly in the middle of anything urgent. The tree would still be here after they had walked their way around to the Mackinac biome.
Hopper: I mean, sure, I’m game if you are. We can see if there are any spots that would work – though whatever we want to do will of course require approval from Ops… and probably our FDC administration. ::Shrugging:: I’ll sort that out later. Let’s go!
Bec reached up and grabbed one of the tree’s branches.
Iko: And we do not speak of how this tree betrayed me.
Hopper: ::Smirking:: Not a word.
As they set off down the path, Robin decided it would be a good time to learn more about Bec. They had met once before, briefly, when Robin had first arrived on the station and sought her security clearance. They had worked together again on the mission to Idrustix, but that too had been brief, with Iko’s shift being recalled to the Kitty Hawk shortly before everything went terribly wrong on the planet’s surface.
Hopper: So, Bec, I’m sure I detect an accent there – and it’s not like any Klingon accent I’ve heard before. Where are you from? Uh, if you don’t mind me asking, that is.
Iko: Response
Hopper: Really? Like Commander Ukinix?
Iko: Response
Hopper: I see! You know, between my time at University and the Academy I lived on Earth for nearly ten years and I never visited Australia. I wish I had.
Iko: Response
Hopper: Theta VII originally. It’s a little backwater frontier world… full of rough-and-tumble miners, farmers, and freighters… ::Chuckling:: Yeah, I never really fit in there.
Iko: Response
Hopper: What led you to enlist in Starfleet?
