((Situation Room, Level 6, Copernicus Center))

Ikaia had given out the final shot to Bec and was passing out spare hypos. Jansen shouldered his medical bag and waited.

Orrey: He will be fine I trust him.

Aitas: Response

Iko: How far apart are all the buggers?

Bec nodded, and unholstered her phaser.

Aitas: Response

Orrey: Ready when you are.

Iko: Lets go.

((Main Engineering))

There was still power to these lower levels it didn’t do much to settle Jansen but it was at least a sign the storm was not there yet. Bec shot at one of the creatures. Jansen kept his weapon holstered for now.

Aitas: I can sense several more animals about; they seem uninterested in us. Perhaps they’re also seeking to flee the storm.

Bec nodded, and checked her weapon. Jansen mulled over the idea.

Orrey: That isn’t the best concept as it means the station has been infested for a while now.

Bec sighed.

Iko: We really don’t have time for this…

Aitas: Starfleet never offers as much time as you’d like, from my experience.

Orrey: None of our jobs do. Not really.

Iko: Once Engineering’s clear I want it sealed off until the storm’s over.

The doctor continued to nod his bag went to his back and he drew his sidearm from its holster. Even on its lowest setting Stinger would absolutely be too much for a small animal but he could use warning shots to herd them toward Bec’s fire if he needed to.

Iko: =/\= Bec to ::slight smile:: Chief petty Officer Barberra. =/\=

It was after she'd called her girlfriend that she remembered Lieutenant Taelon’s name.

Barberra: =/\= Go ahead Commander. =/\=

When Bec whipped around Jansen waved a hand to motion her back to the comm call and took over the lookout duty.

Iko: =/\= $%@#, uhm. What levels do you guys need, what levels can I seal off? There’s bloody Voles eating engineering. =/\=

She said its name and one appeared. Jansen believed in serendipity and fired at the critter pushing it further back toward the Chief’s weapon.

Taelon: =/\= We’re going to be heading to the Habitat shortly, so I think we can do without those levels. Um, maybe vent the engineering section? We’ve got - um, we have bigger issues, I think… =/\=

Barberra: =/\= Commander, there are potential object shaped micro subspace fractures heading our way. =/\=

That peaked Jansen’s interest but it was just another report he would read later. Medical importance now, science playtime then.

Varati: =/\= We are still trying to find out what it is, but the storm's precursors are already damaging our measuring equipment and transmissions are also breaking down... =/\=

As expected.

Galanis: =/\= Response =/\=

Iko: =/\= Good luck. And make sure there’s no Hirogen or anything hiding in there too. =/\=

She closed the comms.

Aitas: Taelon has dealt with these sorts of storms before. He’ll keep a good eye on things.

Orrey: With your endorsement.

Iko: Is that all of them from in here?

Aitas: I can’t sense anything else nearby.

Orrey: I haven’t seen anything in a few minutes. I think we have pushed them away.

Bec nodded.

Iko: ‘right. Well. Do you need anything else from medical because that’s just upstairs and next on the list.

Orrey: No, I am good. What I have in my bag is all I will need barring a catastrophe and I can improvise at that point.

The other two stopped and spotted a clutch…oO Colony? If they were Vole voles it would be colony wouldn’t it? Oo of the animals that were already dead.

Aitas: Something else killed these voles. Are they more sensitive to the storm than we are?

Jansen stepped closer looking over the creatures.

Iko: Whatever it is I don’t really wanna stick around and find out for too much longer…

Orrey: I don’t see any external injuries that is possible.

Aitas: They’re further out than some of the others. Stragglers perhaps?

Iko: Is there anyone on scans?

Jansen pulled out the medical tricorder and replaced his weapon.

Orrey: Not picking up any more lifesigns.

Aitas pulled her jacket off and knelt down next to one of the voles.

Aitas: I can carry it, if you want to run some tests while we’re at medical.

He nodded.

Orrey: Bring it. I can do a necropsy and see if we can learn anything.

Aitas: Is there anything else we have to do to shut things down here?

He shook his head as well.

Iko: Just get out.

Orrey: Best we can try for now.

Aitas: Onward, then. Fureri has noticed a few spikes of energy usage in the Habitat Ring; hopefully there isn’t too much damage.

That could change things.

Iko: The quicker we can get up there, the better. The storms coming in hot.

Orrey: hmmm.

Aitas: I don’t think the storm is doing them any favors. I felt—

Iko: You ‘right?

Aitas: Response

Orrey: In any case we can briefly pause at medical I can still do my exam in Robin’s apartment. I think she has a dining table that would work as a morgue slab.

The trio headed off back up the station turning off the lights as they went.

((Timeskip, Beijing District, Habitat Ring, En Route to Robin Hopper’s apartment))

After making a stop at the Medical centre, where Jansen got a proper medical carrier for the sample of the vole and promised his replicator credits to replace Aitas’ jacket once they were done with all this, the group had moved on to the Habitat ring.

Iko: You’ve got Fureri looking up in Peace park, don’t you?

Aitas: Response

Orrey: A real help having the both of you around.

Peace park, admittedly, was one of the few places on the station that was going to have the power still on, though minimised as much as possible. It was a fairly reasonable thing to request, after all, no-one wanted actual drop bears the moment grav plating came online, and all the science people would probably be annoyed if the climate of the park was messed with too much. But it was still somewhere they had to check, even if time was running low, and the storm was drawing nearer, and if all they could do was have Aitas’ bot give the park a once-over, then so be it.

Bec nodded to her companions, before she saw a figure ahead. And with everything in that report from Kaito, she recognised it, and visibly frowned, before she started marching forward.

Iko: You’re kidding me…

Orrey: What? ::looking over:: Oh by the Elements.

Aitas: Response

Iko: What are you doing here?

Bobded: Response

Aitas: Response

Iko: I’d shove you in the brig if it wasn’t powering down. And I don’t trust your repair work. But we’re on our way to Robin’s and I’ll at least agree that it’s probably just easier if we let you camp it out with us.

Aitas: Response?

Orrey: Wasn’t Commander Ukinix coming to talk to you?

Bobded: Response

Bec looked around. There were a fair few more Voles around on the ring. But none of them were running around like the bastards they were. She looked to the Betazoid man, gestured to the creatures on the floor and asked:

Iko: Y’know what’s up with these things?

Orrey: Or who could have imported them onto the station?

Aitas/Bobded: Response

Jansen pulled his tricorder out of the belt and gave the Betazoid a once over.

Orrey: Are you feeling well? Pulse is up so is your core temperature.

Bobded: Response?

Orrey: ::glancing at Iko:: Or it could indicate deception. ::shrugging casually::

He replaced the tricorder and readjusted the growing number of bags he had.

Iko/Aitas/Bobded: Response?

Orrey I have a specimen to look at and you have some interrogations so I think we need to keep moving if Fureri is done at the park? I don’t want to see what happens to you if he gets caught in the storm..

Iko/Aitas/Bobded: Response?
